I got lucky, though. My wife (still on my first -- 10 years now) has a Ph. D. in E.E. from Stanford, and works while I stay at home with my daughter. I hated giving up teaching, but my daughter has special needs. In the meantime, my wife makes three times what I did as a teacher, and has supported and encouraged most of my bass purchases, which in recent years have bordered on obsessive/excessive.
Did I mention that she surprised me with a Bergantino IP310 for my birthday last year?
Yeah, she's a keeper. More so even than my beloved Reverends (which are her favorites of my basses). She's got good taste in gear, if (apparently) not in husbands.
