FYI... My Fatfish which I bought from Reverb arrived with a wonky wiring issue where the bridge pu was not working right. It would sometimes work, but at a much lower output than the bridge J pu. It did not work at all when I first plugged it in, but worked for a bit. Brought it to my repair shop and they fixed the connection.

And otherwise the bass is mint. No fretwear, no other issues

So I've been sitting on this for over a month before posting on here because I had to see if this was a keeper or not. Oh, brother, is it ever…

Snagged a WattPlower II, the yellow one, off Guitar Center used section for an insanely low price. Too low to not jump on it. I've been really curious about them, glowing reviews everywhere but could never justify the cost when I already play a Stingray Special HH as my main bass. (Have a Sterling Ray34 as my back up but never touch it).

Why was it priced so low? It was a NAMM 25 show model so it probably got handled a lot. Seems like Reverend went through and made sure it was set up before they moved it on because it was perfect out of the box. Curious thing is that it was sold by GC but the shipping label was direct from Reverend which is why I'm speculating they fine tuned it after the show.

Anyway, this thing is AWESOME! Such an easy player, loud and punchy, all three switch positions produce a noticeably different sound, incredibly lightweight. Tone-wise, Watt and Reverend nailed it. I put Slinky flatwounds on it and it just got even better sounding.

My Stingray hasn't been to a rehearsal since this showed up, the WattPlower may have moved to the top of the totem pole for at least one of the two bands I'm in, the main/more active one for sure. I was rooting against the Reverend too but the sound speaks for itself. Even the rest of the band has noticed that it sits in the mix better.

I never thought I was a short scale player either, until this one I haven't played one that moved me. This is a sweetheart to play, one of those guitars that makes you smile when you play.

There is one strike against it, minor and easily rectified though, and that is the side fret markers. They used the glow-in-the-dark ones and on a maple fretboard during the day you cannot see them at all, in the dark they don't glow very well, if at all. I think I am going to have to drill them out and put some black ones in instead. To a lesser extent the fretboard inlays also disappear on the maple board but that doesn't bother me since I can't see them while playing.

Anyway, this one is sticking around and is getting played like hell. If there is a number for me I will proudly take one.

This is my 1999 or 2001 rev rumblefish that I converted to a PJ, using new reverend bass pickups. This. ass sounds awesome with the new pickups. I am having a lot of fun playing this thru the science Mother with Sunn cab with EVM15L speakers, not a lot of bass but what a sound.

I've had the exact same issue regarding the frets on a brand new Reverend Decision P received a couple weeks ago. The fret ends were razor sharp and though they weren't particularly poking out it's not a great feel. The bass balances perfectly and sounds great but a bit disappointed about the fret finish to be honest (and the setup, which may have been "tuned" by the shop was wayyyy off spec).

Also, with the tone wide open I get a buzzing which stops when I touch the strings so I suspect something's not properly grounded. I thought these basses were known for great QC so I was not entirely happy. But it sounds, feels and looks great overall which is important but I'm looking at £100 to get the electronics and frets looked at...

I bought one of the gold ones here in the UK. One of the best looking basses I have owned but had to return it due to the lack of a forearm contour, something I didn't realise the Thundergun did not have until I played it. Great sounding bass, but for me, uncomfortable to play. Bought this instead from Fender Japan. Awesome bass too.

Curious about J's signature bass. It looks sweet. Sorry for 'gun didn't work out for you.

Don't want to detail the thread, but the J P bass is amazing. Finished in black gold sparkle, it has a custom voiced pup and combined with the reverse headstock, delivers that nice piano tone with low end thump. Slightly more expensive than the TG, fit and finish are everything I had heard about from Fender JP. It's my go to now when gigging.

Ken Haas hinted on an IG post that he was considering this as a standard color later on down the line. With a silver pg if I remember correctly. Personally I dig the white/cream pg with the gold, it ties in nicely with the block inlays. Wish I'd snapped one of these up, there was still one left when I inquired about them. Pretty pleased with my Cherry Red one though.

I had the opportunity to buy one on Reverb.
Should've jumped on it.
I'd be happy with red or silver, though.
