I found the Mercalli 5's to be one of the best sounding PJ-5's I've ever played and heard, especially with some flats on them.. For the money, they're a great value ..

I just put flats on mine.... now if I only had a gig....
A couple of questions for the Club:
1. The Reverend Use & Care Manual states that non-maple fingerboards should be treated with lemon oil and maple fingerboards should be treated with guitar polish. Does "maple" include "roasted maple" in this instance?
2. Does anyone know the composition of Reverend bass frets? Are they silver-nickel (which is really copper-nickel), stainless steel, or what?

1) You got a user manual? Man, I feel left out. (I didn't get one with mine). Anyway; I asked this question to Warmoth when I purchased my first Roasted Maple neck, and was told all maple precautions apply to roasted maple as well; so do not use items on roasted maple you wouldn't use on maple (My Triad has a Pau Ferro board).
2) From what I could extrapolate from the Reverend Guitars FAQ (Invalid Link Removed); The frets are size .110″ x .050 and stainless steel.

The same Invalid Link Removed states that their fretwire is similar to StewMac #0150, which is "18% nickel-silver fretwire."
You are correct, I apologize. When I clicked on the link, my eyes gravitated to the "stainless steel" fretwire, completely ignoring the standard.
Most comfortable bass I have. The neck is sublime. It sounds fantastic. Having a J P gives me a variety of solid tones rather than a PJ, not always a fan of J pickups at the bridge they tend to be weak. This is a great solution. Labella low tension flats too, sounds killer in every mix so far
My Mercalli 5 has become my #1 bass, winning out over a G&L L2500 and a '76 P-bass. Another string that works really well on them is the DR Pure Blues (for roundwound ring with still deep lows)

A couple of small gripes are that I don't love a fingerboard overhang when there's no pickguard under it (my index finger got snagged once when I was doing some pops) and the pickup routs seem liable to attract dust, but neither of these things is a big deal.

Wow! That's gorgeous, I wasn't aware of this finish. I'm guessing it was a limited anniversary run based on the end of the fretboard.
