Just saw that one and was about to post.

In the first pic, it looked like it might be Lava Swirl, and I started to get a bad case of GAS. Then I saw it was that black faux-leather finish. Nice, but I can resist it. I think.

Since it's not a PJ, I think I can take a pass on this one. Barely.

Someone snag it, fellas! FL Knifemaker -- this one might be for you!

I might throw in a last minute bid. I'm waiting to hear on another one. What do you guys think of the newer one on the Good Guys site?? No skunk stripe but clean and reasonable price??

That white with black pickguard is REALLY HOT, IMO. Great look. If it were a PJ I might be on the phone with them right now.

At that price, I'd be mighty tempted to pull the trigger if I were you.

Of course, the ebay one might sell for less, but then again, the good guys one might sell in the meantime, and the ebay one might sell for more. Unfortunately, it's always a bit of a gamble.

Best of luck.

Bart

And you guys call yourselves Rumblefish aficionados...

That finish my friends, was featured on some of the last versions of the American Reverend guitars. I believe Joe referred to it as "Rockhide." Basically a faux leather finish, but was actually hard. That would definitely be a cool one to pick up no doubt.

Does that mean that the seller has it wrong? It is an original top?

That white one on goodguys is awesome and is the exact negative of my tuxedo. Not that I am in the position to buy anything anytime soon, but I would love a 5xl in that color. :D

It was an option, but that is not the original top for that bass. When it sold the last time the seller told that he had it sent back to Reverend and "re-topped"

I just gotta say, I can't get that color combo out of my head . . . it's just so darn good looking, IMO.

What do you guys think . . . should I get a black PG made for my 5L or just keep it as is?

Get a black, and a tort! White/tort is awesome.
That white/black 4-string is hurting me. What a looker!

I originally was planning on tort, then decided I liked the look of the gold in person. For some reason, I never even considered black until today.

Does anyone know if Jeannies has a template for a Reverend 5L? I might just have my local tech make one. He's pretty darn handy with that sort of thing.

Go for the black Bart! That is an awesome look.

Emailed Steve at Reverend about the rockhide:

"Hey Matt. Yeah, that was or is EJ Wells' bass. Thats is either the one and only Rockhide bass or one of very very few. I believe there was a two week window that you could have ordered a guitar or bass with Rockhide. We dropped it soon after."
