To continue the pollution, I'll tell you why I bought a bass I just flat can't afford, period.
Everything I've read about the stock Scheff Lipstick pups indicates they sound like old Fender Baritone 6 "strat pups."
In other words, like Johnny Cash "I walk the Line," and Glennn Campbell "Wichita Lineman." You know, that era of "ticky tac" sounding bass. Not wah I'm into.
The Fralins, on the other hand, are known for big phat creamy goodness.
The Lindy/Scheff, with the neck pup further towards the neck, and the bridge pup further towards the bridge ought to be "62 Jazz, and then some."
That, and the maple neck just flipped me out.

Sorry for the further de-railing, but that's my sicko rationale for smoking my credit card all to heck.

Wow. Not cool at all. What's worth more your word or $150...i guess we know the answer to that for some of us. Geez. :scowl:

This all comes back to me being so STUPID for selling my Grey Fish

Last evening I offered to cover PP fees and shipping as well. If he had told me in our first conversation that he needed the funds sooner, I would have FEDEXed a MO. I told him I would pay by thurday evening via paypal so I could use my paypal funds, he said fine. I guess his situation then changed. Again, not a big deal, I have plenty of basses to keep my happy until the right Fish shows up.

Lets get back to talking Fish.............and Chefs Scheff :)

Regarding the morrocan gold BH that EBMatt just bought...

On the Reverend forums, someone pointed out that there was a BH for sale on Craigslist in Dallas. I checked it out and it looked an awful lot like the one Matt just picked up: same color, RW board, and it's even got a blue thing wrapped around the nut like the pics in the ebay auction. The item location noted in the auction is Mesquite, TX, which is a suburb of Dallas.

Of course I emailed the guy asking if it's available. :) Interestingly enough, he wrote back just now saying that it is.

I don't have the disposable income to chase this fish, and it's fishy anyway, but stranger things have happened I guess.

Sweet mercy two BH5s up in one week. I contacted him maybe I'll be able to snag this one....please oh please.

*edit* This BH5 smells awfully fishy. The picture makes me super suspicious. Same hair tie on the bass? What do you guys think?

Fishy for sure! Matt, be careful on this one. Make sure you document everything and save all correspondance.

Oh, I save everything. I don't have too bad of a feeling. I talked to the seller last night and he said that the bass will be going out today. He already left me feedback too and I didn't leave him any yet. Seems to have good feedback too. All I need is the tracking number. Hopefully I won't get screwed......

I was thinking it could be one of those out of country scams but the statement "cool retro case" made it seem legit.

But if it is the same guy on ebay won't he get negative feedback for it not following through? I think he wouldn't risk it because he sells a lot of music gear on there.

I guess $100-$150 is the going rate for integrity these days. If it is the same guy with same serial numbers. I will absolutely not pursue it.

Well, I'm trying to be positive. The fretboard looks lighter on mine than the one on craigslist. It could be the lighting, though. Different floor too in the pictures too. You guys sure the one on craigslist is Moraccan Gold? It looks awfully dark.

Sorry about the slow response, I am in San Jaun del Sur playing. The bass is the morracan gold with creme pickgaurd. It is still available, but I will not be back in the states until the 31st. It comes with the cool retro case.
^ there you have it.

The ebay auction is from a store I thought?

Crazy scenario here but the hair tie got me thinking.

Seller leaves for vacation with an CL ad up. Bass gets stolen without his knowledge and ends up at a used instrument store which in turn sells it on ebay??? What other explanation is there for the hair tie. Argh, I want this to be legit but I can't explain the photo with the same blue hairtie.
