Mmmm sky blue, does anyone want to trade a maple neck for a rosewood? anyways,oddly enough that rockhide bass that was on ebay not too long ago, i hunted down the other one of that particular species not too long ago. It is 900$ firm. I'll reveal that location after i find out the price on this bad boy.

I found the other rockhide fish as well. I sent the owner of the owner an Email yesterday. Right now my EMail is down. What FRIGGIN luck!! The fish forces are working against me.

As far as price, I guess if they are on excellent condition, $800 seems to be the going rate. I'd gladly pay a premium above that for a more desirable one.wow totally missed that, and you had like a 650 price on that. jeez. I believe there's a directive from Homeland Security that if you know the location of available Rumblefish, you have an obligation, in the name of public safety, to reveal their locations at once. Lives could be at stake here.
Also: i have found 3, yes Rumblefishies out there in the sea, i will reveal their locations only after i conclude i cannot and do not want to purchase them. Someone want to call dibs on a dark blue/black 5L? At least if i help someone get a fish, ill feel better about not having one myself, and not being a member of this club

Man, the market is just silly if that's what folks are getting.
IMHO, that's a $650 bass. A P/J might be $750-$800, seems like they made less of those.
I wish they'd build new ones again to drive the used market back down to sanity.

Yeah, but any new ones they made would have to be from Asia, so I doubt the quality would be the same. I think the days of $600 fish are over. $800 will soon be the standard price, and I'd bet that people (like me) would gladly pay $1k for one in a really nice finish like Lava Swirl, bugeye chrome, or ETA.
I'm betting that if they made them in America, they'd need to charge at least $1k for a new four-banger to make a profit. Of course, IMO, the Reverends stack up well against my EBMM and my Sadowsky (the EBMM will soon be for sale).

The quality of the import guitars is quite high. An import bass of the same quality would be A-okay in my book. Of course the main downside would be the different construction method, but Joe and the boys seem to be doing some interesting things with pickup options right now, so I would like to see them take a crack at it.
I agree. I've fondled a couple of the guitars and they are quite nice. Joe is a man of integrity and I'm sure would settle for nothing less. Bring on a new line!!

Why would new ones have to be made offshore to be price competitive?
They weren't before...

...and the company barely made any money. There is a reason they don't make any US guitars anymore. Material prices started going up and instead of making nifty American guitars for $700 they were making them for over a grand. At that point their market started to shrink and they were no longer able to support the business. As cool as the basses were/are, they never sold enough of them when they were cheap, thats why they stopped offering them long before they stopped selling the US guitars.
Sad fact of this day and age of Walmart etc., is that Americans do not value quality US made product. Very sad.
Update: FL Knifemaker has dibs on the rockhide if he wants it, i feel terrible about his deal, i mean he snagged that thing not a minute after it was posted, literally. anyways its the same one that was on ebay and supposedly it is one of a kind, for a hundred bucks more (45 if you count shipping). The 5L is currently promised to Justinbass once my deal is completed. You're second in line if he passes or cannot make the deal
