Anyone seen my 73 Burgundyglo 4001?

It was stolen last year while in transit. It's Serial # MD1582

April 1973. It's got all the goodies including a RIC re-issue horseshoe p/u mounted in the original p/u surround, otherwise completely stock.

Police reports have been filed. Someone has it.

For those who have new 4003 models, is your E-string a bit weak. I'm noticing that on mine compared to the other strings. Any setup changes made to fix it?

If you have adjustable pole-peices, that would be an easy fix. Otherwise, sometimes lowering the opposite side helps even things up some.

Here is my '80 red Ricky.

Bought it in '87 for $250 from a starving bassist. Used it in my punk band back when. Had plenty of bite to cut through the twin distorted chunky chord guitars.

I don't play it much anymore. Keep it here by the computer so I can have a quick to grab bass when reading posts in General Instruction or Theory.

Also so keep it tuned down a half step so I can play along with Hendrix CDs.

Seems more like a resonance issue. The E-string doesn't quite have the sustain of the rest. So I'm thinking it might be the bridge saddle or nut. Unless I got two sets of strings with a dead E.

Take your truss rod nut driver and give the E string side a 1/8 turn. See if that does it.

Thanks for the reply! I rather not have to take it for a setup for only that issue. Also, the nut seems high on that side. Would filing it down be a good idea?

Yeah, that IS important! I knew what I meant! Take it a little tighter - to change the load on the neck. Maybe even less than 1/8 turn - you just want to change the dynamic of the neck on that side and not get backbow.
