I bought the bezel and put it on. I don't remember taking the strings off, but loosening them.
I don't have it with me right now but it's possible isn't it?.....or is my memory so bad.....
Another option is to just pull the strings off the tuners and wrap them in a towel or something soft so it won't damage the finish.I think it's possible, just more of a pain in the rear to leave the strings on.
I don't like the loose strings draping across the finish while I'm working; worried about scratches. So I waited until I had to change out the strings.
