The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

Bumper stickers. I gave a bunch away at RIO!!!, I may still have a few, I think. And, some Rickenbacker picks, too.

Ooh, Ric picks! I don't think I have any.* I could trade something for one, maybe a '70s vintage Ampeg pick? Or Vox, or . . .

*One day, much to my dismay, and completely against my intentions, I found I had a guitar pick collection, as lame as that may sound. Pretty much all "brand" picks rather than "artist" picks (except for Carol Kaye and John Pearce, who kinda sell their picks as a brand).

Fireglo has landed...

This is absolutely a want, but I am floored by its look. I mean, Ric tone for sure, she is exactly what I expected there. Since I have only had vintage or Walnut Ric's, I wasn't prepared for the depth of the finish... it has exceeded my expectations.

A couple photos...

I do have one question about this new one. The other "new" Ric's that I've bought have been walnut and the cloth had an aroma that seemed like maybe it had some oil in/on it. You know, natural finish and all. This cloth smells much the same way. Is that just the way the material smells or is that suitable for the gloss finishes well? Whatever "that" is, that is. ;)

I am not a collector of picks, either, what I have are picks I have gotten over the decades to use. I never use picks on guitar anymore, haven't in 20 years or so, only for bass, occasionally. In my Pick-O-Stash are a couple that I got from Paul Richards (California Guitar Trio) and Bucky Pizzarelli, and an old grey Herco nylon with the initials VLW on it.

Beautiful, and nice seeing one with the vintage style knobs. (Not a fan of the metal top knobs).
Enjoy!

I thought about keeping the 4000, problem is I buy , sell and trade a lot.
I don't want the hassle or the burden of proof when the day comes.
" oh well the build sheet is missing on this 69' Roadrunner but it really did come with factory AC and a air grabber, just message Bob Smith on Instagram and ask him"
That being said I contacted Reverb and I had a prepaid return label today, probably see my money back in PayPal in a month

I would really like that hybrid chrome/black horseshoe from that bass.....but that's about it.
Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous bass, but I've been totally spoiled by 4004 ergonomics,so flat edges, bindings, and toothy tailpieces are not for me.

thankfully I like most of Ric's offerings but I will say I'm becoming more of a checkerboard snob, the white binding just looks pedestrian to me on a lot of colors

If you're floored by the looks now, just imagine how you'll feel when the stickers come off ;)
