The "SCORE!" thread

Dude, that score was yours, but I am very glad that I have 'dibs', just in case you come down with a case of temporary insanity, or something. :D

LOL. I'm getting a Read next week, and I can't really rationalize holding on to both preamps, so I REALLY hope the Read doesn't make me swoon. If I sell the Brunetti, I'll never be able to get another one.

The $25 dream.

No not the cab, the GK for $25 off of Ebay (local, so no shipping) + $40 in blood, sweat and tears (well, just a cap job really) And I have one of the greatest sounding heads ever made, IMO. Still trying to figure out what to do about the cosmetics, though. You can tell it's been in the trenches for many years in the club wars ;)

Nice score. That's a fantastic deal.

Nice score!

As for cosmetics, why not airbrush it to match the cabinet?

So I picked up my new to me SWR 210c from sevenorchids over easter weekend...he cut me a break.

Then I traded my rack(samson C tube pre and opti compressor into QSC model 1700) and Peavey 2 x 15 for an Ampeg SVT 350 and 410 pro cab

Now I am picking up an SWR SM 400 for $300...I am pretty dang happy today.

TWO great condition, completely functioning Crown Macro-tech 24x6's for ............free. That's right. Free.
My church needed a bass player, and I was kinda thinkin about playing the bass at the time, so my pastor at the time told me i could have them if I played bass for 6 months.

My best bass score is probably the horribly beat-to-hell Ampeg B25 2x12 combo I nabbed at a yard sale for $10. Mismatched crusty old tubes, rusty chassis, leaky "death-cap", half-shredded tolex, and broken/missing wood pieces that hold the chassis in. When plugged in and set to not have a hot chassis, it sounded incredible. It's not really safe to play at this point, so...

It's apart right now, I'm replacing the captive 2-prong AC line cord with an IEC 3-prong chassis connector (eliminating the polarity switch and "death cap"), but I need to Dremel the hole for it. It's in the queue for this summer's Projects I Really Need To Finish, along with both of my Leslie amplifiers. Amazing how fast projects pile up when one procrastinates to hell and back....

Ive got two.... bought my complete Trace Elliot rig for $525 (AH350SMX with the GP12, pre-amp 4x10 and 115 cabs) from a local horn player who had it in the basement for whatever reason! That included covers and cables, in excellent condition! advertised only in the local newspaper classifieds! Also my Fender bassman 60 combo, in real nice condition, was found by my brother on someones curb for the trashmen to pickup! he figured it was fried, so did i, so i took it apart and all looked O.K. plugged it in and not a damn thing wrong with it????? Lucky me i guess!

I once picked up a mint SVT-II (non pro - the older model with no cage on the back) in the matching "head" shaped case and the matching 810 (also mint) for $600.

I eventually sold it for all the dumb reasons: "too heavy, can get the same sound with ss gear, gas". I've another now... not nearly the same great deal.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a new, opened box, SVT4 Pro for $650.00 off of Ebay. It was from a guitar store that also sells on Ebay.

Today I picked up two, three year old SVT410HE's from a bassist who was down sizing. I got both cabs for $500. That was on Craigs List.

The year was 1984.....i answred and add in the paper for "guitar cabinet for sale"....it turned out to be a 4x12 Peavey with Black Widows.....$100.00.....still got it.

The year was 1981.....saw an add for "bass amp for sale"....it was a Supro 1x15....all tube...must have been 50 watts.......I think I payed $25.00 man I wish I still had it, i don't think it sounded that great....but I sure do wish I had the Supro name on a clean amp.

Trace Hexa Valve...mint. Found it in a store during one of my road trips.

I paid $600 including the black light!
