- Full disclosure, I'm a certified Fender technician working in a music store that carries Fender, Yamaha, and Ibanez products among others.
Ampeg 810 Classic. $50 at a swap meet because the seller thought it was an oddball piece of home theater equipment from the '70s. All the speakers needed was reconnecting, and the whole thing worked again. Best deal EVER!!!
More recently, $249 for a Genz-Benz Series 2 amplifier. The power supply needed a quick fix (about 10 minutes worth of work) and it was good to go. Nice amp.

Early/mid 70's SVT head and cabinet for about $600.
Of course that was a long time ago and only a good deal at the time. If I had a buck for every time I said "I shoulda kept it" then I wouldn't care what they were worth today...!

My guitarist used to date this girl whose father was in a band. He had a bunch of "Old recording and effect units" that he didn't use any more and asked him if he wanted them. He took them and they sat in his garage for a few years.
We started using some of the power amps right away. They were old Amcron 300 power amps. Heavy as hell and huge without much output but they work great for powering monitors.
We got to a point where we needed to get some quick money since he needed a rig and we needed a bigger PA. We looked to selling the old gear that was just sitting there. We asked locally and were offered $500 for the whole lot of it. We denied and took the stuff to ebay.
First item that went up was a dual channel compressor which we quickly found out was known for creating the "Led Zeppelin drum tone." Made a quick $2,500 on that. Put up the second one of those and got the same amount.
Put up a few phaser units that apparently where known for being used by Zeppelin. Those went pretty quick too for a decent price. All in all we sold everything for close to $8,000.
Pretty decent score since he had nothing to do with that girl anymore. lol
Thats fu*king awsome.........A buddy of mine had a smilar experience with a guy who gave hime a bunch of tubes from an old defunct recording studio. To date he has made about $8K in tubes of the last several months. Not Bad!!
Brunetti two-channel (with separate tubes for each channel!!!) bass preamp. Sounds amazing, and the two channels provide a lot of flexibility in gig situations. AFAIK, I am the only person on TB to ever have had one of them, so it's pretty darned rare.

I bought a nice futon for a hundred bucks and remember going into his old office and seeing these 2 vintage altec cabinets, looked at the back on the paper labels and thought they were something special, asked how much, he said 150, so i bought them immediately.
Got them to my place searched google for their altec model number(847a devilles) btw these were PERFECT condition, opened em up, everything original, serial number was 49002 and 49004 online on altec it stated that the first year they were built was 1949, so I thought about it for a sec and to make a long story short, learned that they were the 2nd and 4th ones off the production line. and have to this day gotten inquiries locally and from nearby cities upwards of 14k for the pair.

started with pickin up a mint condition Bergantino NV215 for 500 bucks, and a Moog Low Pass Filter MINT for 100......So 600 total for that pickup
then picked up a NV610- for another 500....little roadwear but nothing more then cosmetic.....
Recently scored a Mesa 400+ in a Mesa SUS4 shock rack, with about 30 extra power tubes......for 1000
so that puts my rig of a Mes400+ shockmounted on top of an NV610/NV215 stack, with a Low Pass Filter for 2100 bucks.

Used to snag stuff at GC when I worked there. They would pass on something someone was selling and I'd make an offer(only after GC passed). Most prices were all they were asking!

Best one of all though...An old Silvertone shortscale that I bought for $50. I ended up giving it to Oteil Burbridge's 5 yr old nephew(at the time). Oteil's family is mostly here in Charlotte. He was in town with the Allman Bros and called up one day looking for one of those mini Fenders. I couldn't find one anywhere so I strung the Silvertone up with really light gauge strings, got the action as low as possible and gave it to him. He's been a friend ever since. He's graduated his nephew up to his old Dano longhorn last I talked with him.

No not the cab, the GK for $25 off of Ebay (local, so no shipping) + $40 in blood, sweat and tears (well, just a cap job really) And I have one of the greatest sounding heads ever made, IMO. Still trying to figure out what to do about the cosmetics, though. You can tell it's been in the trenches for many years in the club wars
