Thanks for the advice. Yes, probably going to try a VT Bass. Sounds - literally - like it might fit my needs quite well. For reverb I currently use a Boss DD-3. Can get slapback as well as longer delays. I really don't really need that plate/spring-type reverb effect. I'm more of a delay person. Fits my style (such as it is) quite well.

Also, what settings do you use for your VT?

I use a custom tube screamer based overdrive that I built specifically for my Hellcat..works better than others I have tried if all you want is grit (and not shred or fuzz...). Gives me the ability to cut bottom when I don't want it and...not cut bottom when I do want it. Has a great range from "slightly driven tube amp" to "heavy dirt." But I'm not selling mine...might consider doing a few "one-offs" if there was enough interest.

A flat response in this case = all frequencies amplified to roughly the same degree (within reason) with the aim of hearing the instrument's complete timbre: an equal amount lows, mids, and highs.

Not at this time, if you don't mind waiting awhile I can put something together...I've been meaning to put together a website for my bizarre pedals/custom electronic instruments for the past year, and I still haven't gotten around to it (sorry been busy with getting married, buying a house, and independent pedal projects for artists). I really do intend to put something together before the end of the year... Making pedals/et cetera is more of a hobby than a paying job for me, so I have trouble finding time to get to these projects.

I've never noticed them before...they must be new. The 2x10 isn't out yet it looks like.. But something about this demands it to be paired with a Bass VI... Its almost perfect...no effects loop unfortunately! Still...since I use a "guitarist's" Tweed Bassman for my VI at the moment...I think that these "Bassist's" Bassman amps might be better suited in a gigging situation (I don't play incredibly loud and haven't had to gig with it yet, so I haven't blown a speaker with it). I've always been turned off of "regular" bass amps for the Bass VI due to their overly clean and bassy sound...I like to turn the bottom all the way down and play it more like a guitar. I also like that that there is a "gain" knob instead of just volume (which unfortunately on my current Bassman means I need to use a pedal to get any dirt). Still...the price seems pretty reasonable for these...I'll have to stop by GC sometime and see if they have any to try out, I think I might just have to cough up a grand for one of these (I'd go for the 2x10 myself...I prefer a 10" speaker to a 12").

Sounds like you've had your hands full and priorities straight. Anyway, whenever. Feel free to post here or PM me. Very curious as to what you've designed to enhance your VI's sound.

kslight, I've tried out one of those Bassman combos... The gain knob didn't seem to do very much in terms of sound texture. Maybe with a hotter signal coming in, it might add some grit.

I recorded a quick and dirty soundfile of me playing lots of random bad notes with my Hellcat VI and the VT Bass pedal. It's uploading to esnips right now. I haven't listened to it myself yet, so I don't know how it sounds, or if you can hear me babbling on it, explaining when I am playing with the pedal off as opposed to on, switching settings, etc. I may have been too far from the microphone for it to pick up my voice...

I've changed the position of the pedal on my board. I put it right after my tuner near the start of the chain.

So right now my effects from start to end:
VT Bass -> Clone Theory (chorus) -> Delay Champ -> Digiverb -> Stereo Pulsar (tremolo)

Previously, the chorus before the VT sounded a bit harsh and scratchy, but after the VT sounds a lot nicer.

Ah OK, I've gone and changed it so it's now downloadable. Mind you, it's almost 40MB in size, so it might take a while to download....

I'd love to provide more pics but I lack a digital camera. Any recommendations for one at about $100? I need something that can get extrememly sharp images indoors. Every digital camera I had in the past always made blurry images indoors, like a double exposure or something. Weird phenomenon.

I haven't really tried any new low-end digital cameras...but in my experience the lighting has to be good because they usually don't have a large enough aperture to use a fast shutter speed (which is why they will auto-resort to slow shutter speed = blurry pictures). Though my iPhone takes halfway decent pictures so I would have to think that there is SOMETHING out there. I'd be lying though if I recommended a low-end digital camera...I didn't buy a digital camera until I could afford a digital SLR, which is a good replacement for most of my film cameras. I got a Canon Rebel XSI early this year, which is cool because it actually functions like a real SLR, and you can buy better lenses/flashes/et cetera for it to make it a truly stellar camera...but that is many times out of your proposed budget...
I would suggest trying to find a Canon camera in your price range...

I would, but I don't think anyone gives a crap about seeing pictures of my boring Schecter Hellcat VI and "aged" (an honestly aged one, from 19 years of use by someone other than me) Fender Bassman 59 reissue.

Still...here ya are...these pics are almost a year old now...I'm no longer in this band nor do I live in this house...
