Tim: I have Hipshot lights on my Turner Tenor..it's tuned "A" (the bass guitar "a") to "f" in fourths, 5 strings, going from an .080 to (depending on how much I am playing ) usually a .024. I agree with you on "bass tuners" for little strings. I was going to split the tuners, ala Ralph Novack, but this turned out great.
AFA as the wiki..YES please do it if you have the time. I know somewhere in the 34,987 posts re the Bass VI vs six string bass vs baritone ..it has been mentioned, and I think the way to go is 30" scale, tuned E-E equals a Bass VI, no matter the mfg.
Of course I have an ulterior motive for this..when Fender sees someone (that would be us...) coined their guitar "officially" (Nate at Danelectro aside ahem), as a "Bass VI", and there's a wiki, and eva'body wants one..they will get their design clone team active and make a 60's classic vibe Bass VI for $0.43 and we will be awash in droning surf noise, rattle can Cure-like bass lines, and hillrod doubled up 1/5 thangs. Also.. bass VI flatwound sets available as a walk in at Geetar Barn USA, but that's just a crazy notion.
