The Soundgear Club

Sr-900

This is THE best looking sr Bass i ever saw.
It has:
2 Bartolini mk1 pickups
THE ibanez Pearl inlays
And à 4 band equalizer

I really like THE deep Bass color and slap sound

I dig it alot!

I always thought it'd be cool to put a Stingray pickup/pre in a SR with a Stringray-like pickguard, and call it the Soundray... or Stinggear, haven't decided yet

It would be fun to experiment. I just love the way my SRX plays but it is aggressive/harsh in the treble frequencies. I thought a Nordstrand or Bartolini would add some smoothness to the sound options.

I'd rather not have a pickguard, but you'd have to do something with the hole where the other shaped PU was. If you gotta have one, might as well have a cool one.
The other option would be to fill the cavity and repaint, but that becomes a much larger project.

devilman, I'd like to hear what you're going for sound-wise when you change the preamp.

All of those are nice options although the thing I love most about the 755 is the Barts.

Sounds like you'd rather have a higher model that comes with the Nordstrands. (They've got two of those at the Guitar Center in Nashville.) I was A/Bing them this week. The Nordstrands sound big and smooth, but lack the growl the Barts have (to my ears). I love the Barts but they are more of a one-trick poney than the Nordstrands. You can't make the Barts NOT growl. Both are very nice.

The Nordstrands will be a test run . I have a friend who is a Luthier and is a Nordstrand dealer who will let me put them in for a week of test run before I buy them so it is realy a let's see kind of thing. I will replace the factory Mk1's with the handmade Bartolini model if the Nordstrands don't work out. I've had a Bart 5.4 eq and jazz pups in other Warwick rigs and loved them. I really need something that does a lot due to being in two bands and different projects I'm involved in . The Nordstrand preamp is a def just the pups may go either way.

Yeah, it's in really rough shape. I traded my 885 in on it. Lot of little parts need to be replaced, I have to rewire the whole bass. The worst part is the fret board has pulled slightly off of the neck at the nut. I had one of the 3rd Coast techs check it out, it's fixable, but it might need to go to a luthier to be repaired.
