And yeah, you wouldn't want to deal with this thing, I JUST got done cleaning and polishing the body, I'm gonna start the neck shortly, then hardware. The goal is to get it all cleaned up tonight. Already looks a lot better, but has a long way to go

I've got the itch for one of those 700's with the mid switch. Ummm nice. Couldn't make the Black Friday special at GC, but I'm sure they'll have another.

Beautiful job so far, are the 5th/7th fret markers darker, or is it just the photo?

That's cleaning up nicely. Looks Great! What are you doing about the fretboard? Are you fixing it yourself or taking it in to a luthier?

I'm debating, I got quoted $75 to have it done.

75 for a pro job is pretty reasonable I'd think, especially for a bass that is as nice as that one.

Guys, what the hell is this? That doesn't look like a Vari-Mid, but it works just like one...

And where are these supposed to go? the EQ pots?

Good grief! What a rats nest! Those ring lugs must be grounds of some kind are there any pots without grounds for some reason?

You know, I haven't opened up the back cavity on my SRT805 (vari mid 3) cause I was scared to find this kind of thing. You've convinced me it has been the right decision.

They're running off of the volume pot...

They must be part of the ground circuit. seems that the only place they could go is to your EQ pots. Do they fit to those locations without any trouble. Meaning the wire lengths seem to be cut for those spots.

yeah, they do, I figured that was where they were running, just never seen this on an ibby before.

Yeah pretty interesting way of doing it. Are there any star washers to help with the ground or is it just the bare ring lugs. I don't notice any marks on the lugs where star washers may have "bitten" into them.

there are star washers, I'm about to get that all put back together and sealed up, have to solder the bridge ground back onto the jack though.
