I just got my daughter the srt805dx and a ampeg portaflex 500 with 210. She wanted to start playing and hears good so I got that and was wondering if that was a good bass. I play drums and sing and my 9 yr old boy plays drums and already has 2 bands. My daughter is 7 and can pick out the cords, but back to my point and atop being a proud dad. I that a good bass and amp. Thanks

That is an amazing bass to start with as is the amp you chose. Nicely done!

I'd like to have a number please. The first bass I ever bought new was an Ibanez Roadstar
and just recently picked up a SR500, I'm lovin' it especially for the D tune stuff.

TinIndian - those are the original tuners, I just cleaned them up, I need to replace all the little washers and what not on them still.

christle - I like the stock "prestige" truss cover that's wood. looks good.

dllcali - good choice, VERY good way to start off, got any pics?

PDGood - if I remember correctly almost anything 800 and up had a Vari-mid, hop in ibanezregister.com and check out the OLD gallery, it has everything you need to know up until about '07 I think.

Sorry for quick responses, I'm getting the Mono-Rail cleaned up and put back together, should be done soon.

I own an SRT805DX and I gig with it every weekend. It is my main bass and I love it. Very comfortable and versatile. An excellent bass and a great amp you have picked up as well.

Have you check the SRX430? It's sold in Japan and it looks to be the SRX2 with the SRX3 bridge and a pickguard. Maybe you can order the Pickguard from there?

I checked out a 1200 a second time (which has the Nordstrand PUs) and decided I'm not such a fan of them after all. But I'd still like to change PUs on the SRX - I'm just leaning now towards the G&L humbucker which would give me an entirely different sound AND would probably completely fill the PU cavity (so I wouldn't need a pick guard).

But I have to say, that I like the pick guard idea just because it would make people scratch their heads trying to figure out what model it is. :)

Anyway, I'm not going to do any modding until I have another one with Barts that will become the primary player. Then I can risk making a change to the SRX.

I'm really impressed with my little SRX though. It has one of the straightest necks I've ever seen, plays like butter and is very versatile. I just don't care for the harsh treble frequencies. I know it was designed for this very thing (aggressive) but I like every other thing about the bass except for that. I've tried every brand of string and amp combination available to me. I think a PU change will do the trick and make it both unique and indispensable.
