it is the brown actually, it must be the lighting , but they do vary in color from bass to bass though

Is it "Charcoal Natural?"

Actually its listed as charcoal brown, got it from sweetwater. They had three to choose from and I chose that one by serial number because of the grain in the body.

Yeah my SR405 was "charcoal brown" as well, it's code for red with a little bit of brown mixed in. lol.

I remember a while back seeing an Ibanez AX guitar with a flame maple finish that was called "Blueberry Burst" or something like that- but it was.... red! lol

Was it Blackberry? THAT is a deep red that they had on the AX series.

I have a sound gear 1000 made in the early 90's got it in 93 used. I use to love this bass but thanks to small children mt neck is warped so my action is screwed... Now that I have a real amp I am also noticing I am having issues with mids which seems to be an issue with the SG's. I am now looking to get a new bass but am unsure if I am going to get another SG or not I live the thin necks and that there are 24 fretted....so I am looking..

btw the abbreviation for sound gear is SR. Dunno why, ask Ibanez.

Some Ibanez basses sound crappy in the mid range, some don't. Depends on which one you get.

The SR 1000 is great, but imo a bit hard to dial in because the preamp presets stuff is making a wide range tonal difference. Did that make sense?

I'd love to get in on this. I have one of the GIO Soundgear basses, not sure what year. Once upon a time I had a fiver (I think it was a 505), and I'd love to get back into that kind of bass again.

The necks on most of my early 90's SR's do seem to need their necks adjusted more than other basses, primarily because they are so pencil thin. Adjusting them is fairly easy- Squier has a great tutorial which I will post once I'm home. As for your mids issue, the quickest fix might be a new set of strinngs, or try a different brand/make.

I posted this in the Ibanez forum, but it can go here too since it's a variation of an SR. It's a Photoshopped version of an SRX2EX2. I've been thinking about adding a pickup, but because it's a different size it would need a pickguard to cover up where the work was done.

I always thought it'd be cool to put a Stingray pickup/pre in a SR with a Stringray-like pickguard, and call it the Soundray... or Stinggear, haven't decided yet
