Just wondered if my Soundgear family can help me out. I'm looking to part ways with my Mikro, & my GSR200 for either an sr370, sr400qm (the older cherry burst) or an sr500. Now I know it seems like a no-brainier due to the 500 having Mk-1's. But I live in Florida where it's very humid & wondered if having a lacquered finish would be better for the bass. I've heard a lot of negative reviews about the finish on the 500's. I cannot afford a 700 (even used). Anyone have the 370 or 400qm that they're super happy with? I have the older 400 that I had pickups replaced in....looking to use that one as a backup to whatever I decide on. Thanks.

I had a 370 and now have a 375. I think this would be a good bass for you. Maple is a really hard and durable wood and the finish is awesome. Tbese do have quite a brighter tone than other sdgr's though. If you want it tones it down a little go with a rosewood fb. The electronics are a bit weak but very useable.

Hey SDGR Club! I need some help/advice. I have a '11 SR505 that I absolutely love; I've greatly modified the electronics though, but still it’s my main 5'er. Anyways, I found out one of my string retainers on the bridge (D-string) was bent. I heard a pop and thought I broke a string, but I didn't; then thought a tuner gave out, but all check out ok. That’s when I noticed the ball end was almost coming out through the hole. I bent it back and it helped but I was afraid of it losing its integrity, which it finally did when I open the case and found it broken a few weeks ago.

Visited the Ibby website, got a part no. and contacted my local dealers, but haven’t heard anything. I guess just trying to see if there is maybe anyone that might have one lying around or maybe a lead on an aftermarket bridge that could fit or even an older model bridge. The bridge is recessed and not too excited about routing out or having gaps, but looks like I may have to do that. Thanks, Nick.

I've had one of the SR400's, cherry burst no less, have an SR405, an SR1200, and an SR5000 and I live in Florida as well. They all do just fine. Just get the one that sounds best to you and you'll be good to go.

Supposedly the finish on the 500 wears easily, but unless you're worried about keeping it looking pristine I doubt it's really much of an issue.

I had this exact thing happen to me with my SR-375M, only it was the "A" string at the bridge. You can kinda see this happening in the picture below.

I took the bridge completely off the bass and bent the lifting bridge piece back down into position and reset the bridge back on the bass. But, this only lasted a day before the same area started lifting again.

I did the same thing as you - which was to obtain the Ibanez part number from the Ibanez website and found a local authorized Ibanez dealer who ordered one up for me.

Haven't had a single issue with the replacement bridge.

This is such a beautiful looking model, I just wish they made it with nicer hardware. There is soo much more potential from the facts that it is all maple than what Ibanez is letting it have.

Hell, upgrade the hardware and throw a set of Nordstrums in there with a bit better fret work and you would have a beautiful Prestige model

I couldn't agree more - although I have zero issues in general with the hardware (despite the bridge issue I had). Tuning gears have performed very well, and the pots are very smooth & solid.

I do think the preamp could be upgraded to something with a little more kick in the output - maybe something a little a more robust like in the 500+ series. All I've felt the need to do with this one so far is to have a really great fret level done on it, and now I enjoy it almost as much as my SR-705. I really enjoy the choice of tones between having both this and the SR-705 to choose from. I may upgrade the preamp in the future, and then I'd really be torn as to which one I'd want to call my "main bass". :) Strong, the potential is in this one - Mmmm, yes. <Yoda reference>.

Great bass, I've had this exact same model for almost a year and I love it. I too think the hardware is pretty decent, and the PUs sound pretty well. I'll be posting pics of a '95 SR 405 I got today as soon as I shoot some pics, it's a nice complement to my active SR 375, with a "jazzier" passive tone.

IIRC, the bridge wasn't too bad. I want to say I was quoted about $30.00 dollars from a local Ibanez dealer, but don't quote me on that. Been a little while now since I replaced it and I don't have the receipt at this point to refer back on.

Thanks stingray69! As long the price hasn't increased to some crazy triple digit amount, I won't complain. That's cheaper than spending my only day off shipping the bass with insurance to their facility.

Any idea if the monorail bridges are available OEM in Cosmo Black? My main beef is the gold hardware on most higher end models.
