They need to bring back 4-string BTB's. Single cut 4 BTB's, too.
And better fretless options.
I could be interested in a 4-string 35-inch BTB. It would be good for down-tuning to DCGF, D drop C, or BEAD. I've often thought a 4-string version of my BTB33 (33-inch scale) would be cool, too. That would be very easy to play and perfect for EADG.
My 34" scale BTB does D standard & D drop C fine, but C standard or BEAD would be too low with these strings.

I didn't realize Ibanez ever made 34-inch BTBs. When did they switch to all 35 (except the BTB33)?
My BTB300 is pretty unique.
The only one I've seen with PFR pickups, 3/8" exposed pole pieces.

That Ibanez SR5SMLTD is stil one of the best Premium Ibanez bases they've made to date.
YES! I'm loving that setup. My Cerro is the most versatile of the bunch. I've been using it for any gig I don't use my Fodera on, which is almost every show. I was just playing it thinking how many sounds I could get out of it. I've decided to drop another Pope into my 4 string SR5000MM since I really like the flexibility of it (and the muscular tone).
With all that said, I'll probably take my SR5SMLTD tonight. That bass is so well made and the Nordstrands are so damn punchy. It's a much brighter bass than the Cerro, so I usually turn down the highs. But the room I'm playing tonight likes snappy highs, so I'm leaning towards this bass for the gig.
This is true. Holding that bass alone lets you know it's high quality. I REALLY enjoy playing it. The sound is a bit more aggressive, which I like, but can be smooth as butter if you want. I'm playing Funk/R&B/rock tonight and this bass will handle it like a pro.
I've actually loved both of Ibanez SR5 models and hope they continue releasing them yearly. The wood pickups and wood selections are as good as any bass you will find under $2000. Very fun basses to play.
