I really like the flexibility of the Pope pre amp, although I'm looking at several right now (for my SR5000MM, which is a PJ) including the Pope, Noll, Bartolini, and EMG. I think it really depends on what pickups I put in there.
For the 655, I'm thinking (right now) to try either some custom Nordstrand Fat Stacks or the Bartolini MK5s, which I really like in my Cerro. Just want some variety

May I join? I got this 97 SR800 a couple weeks back.
Not the best pic, but just picked up my second (and currently only) bass. I had an Squier Affinity P about 15 years ago and sold a long while back. I've wanted to get back into bass and my boss sold me this 1996 SR300 for a song as it needed some work. I swear it's lighter than my guitars!

I had a Mexican Strat that weighed around 9 lbs. My SRX only weighs 8 lbs
that being said, I've got a LTD guitar that weighs less than 7 lbs.

R U sure those are hipshot tuners? Looking at the shape, they ought to be Gotoh tuners.
And AFAIK, Hipshot never made cosmo black color.
You're absolutely right - they're the Gotoh 350s - don't know what I was thinking...
Great...!!! Gotoh GB350 are current best tuners and IMO they are the right choice for upgading any Ibanez bass. I have swapped mine all with GB350s, 5 basses in total (and still have a set of 6er GB350 for later).
I agree that the GB350s are a great way to drop weight off the headstock, the worst place for weight to be. They are of high quality and, unlike the Hipshots, are the same size as the stock tuners, so they will fit on some 5-strings where the Hipshots won't. Note the BTB33 in this photo:

@skeeler, so you've changed your Cerro tuners again? Yep. I put Gotohs on the Cerro and moved the Hipshots on to another bass. I need to get an updated photo like yours.
I hope it pans out, but I wouldn't be counting my chickens before the eggs hatch
