I did service on both of my basses . The sr300 and src6.
New D'Addario's set for both. The 300 still kicks the cr6 butt not apologies . I'm confused. The 300 was not even expensive and has a crazy tone, it growls !!.

My src6 improved a bit with a B7K ultra. But still sounds moody. Any tricks to make it sound crisp? The 300 has Ibanez pickups. Src6 uses emgs

Weird issue on my SR506. When the volume knob is anything but dimed or off, I get lots of buzzing. Enough to overcome both of my gates. Have yet to try sans pedal board, but I'm thinking some sort of scratchy pot? It's pretty much always maxed, so dust could have built up. Sound about right? I hope to test/clean later, but my infant son has decided nap time is over...

Try cleaning the pot first. If that doesn't resolve it start removing pedals one at a time from your pedalboard. I once had a similar issue and it turned out I left a battery in a pedal. When it degraded it affected the sound. I didn't think that would happen when AC was engaged but it did. Removing the battery solved my issue. I have also had bad cables introduce noise in to my signal path. That is something you also try, replacing cables one at a time to see if that resolves the issue.

Based on your description I would the most likely culprit is the pot.

Thanks for the tips! I've already tried going direct to amp. It's almost certainly the bass or cable, as that did not fix it. It's also not the battery in my bass, as swapping it didn't help either. I tried using another bass, my SR505 and the problem didn't occur. So it's definitely my SR506. Just lubricated and cleaned the pot, now I'm twisting it a few hundred times to really work it in. Let's hope this does it!

The good news is if the cleaning doesn't fix it replacing the pot is an inexpensive and quick fix.

Right. The pot didn't help. Anyway, it seems to be a bad cable. But only noticeable on this specific bass.

Using this cable and this bass on any of my amps results in the noise, but swapping either cable or bass removes it. Weird. So something about the relationship between this cable and this bass makes the noise happen. Doesn't make any unwanted noise with other cables. Anyway, guess I'll just pitch that cable so I don't have to worry about a stupid little annoying thing like remembering that a specific cable and bass don't match.

IMG_0395.jpg I'm looking at the SR 300 in Pearl Black Fade Metallic. (Sweetwater $349) Do these (new?) PowerSpan pickups sound/work well? They are supposed to be humbuckers that you can split into single coil. With the "Power Tap" switch. I don't have a local shop that carries Ibanez anymore, and my only experience is with used, or Models that would now be 4-5 years old.

Hello!

I've got an Ibanez SR905 (2004 Made in Korea), and today one of the tuners broke (the metal gave up, the peg separated from the tuning machine, it died, kaput!).

I'm looking to get a quick and low price replacement. I will probably look for something better in the long run, probably change the whole set.

Now, I'm in Argentina, and this stuff is not that easy nor that cheap to find.
Apparently, I can get ahold of a "JinHo" tuner that seems appropriate.

Thanks for the replies.
So far, I've got a super cheap replacement. The brand is "SINEW" apparently. But yeah, I'm looking to change the whole set in the near future. Gotoh even has the "Cosmo Black" finish, that would match the rest of the hardware on the bass.

Any preference between Gotoh and Hipshot?
-Hipshot seems to be a little bit pricier.
-I've read at least one story about 2 tuners breaking in the same spot (which I think is the same my original tuner broke).

I'm also considering getting the ResOLites or Ultralites, but I'm not sure they'll be worth it, as this bass doesn't really neck dive...

I'm waiting for a brand new SR300E to be delivered. Apparently the the mail man was here today according to the local postal service, but I haven't heard a knock on the door and there wasn't a paper in the mailbox. Have to wait until tomorrow afternoon before I go and pick it up myself, hopefully.
