This is a SR950 from '92. Last night, took her apart and gave her a good cleaning, oiled the fretboard, polished the frets, put on some Fodera nickels and a full setup. Honestly don't think there was much playtime on it as it looks like NOS. Another one for the collection...

-Hipshot seems to be a little bit pricier.
-I've read at least one story about 2 tuners breaking in the same spot (which I think is the same my original tuner broke).

I'm also considering getting the ResOLites or Ultralites, but I'm not sure they'll be worth it, as this bass doesn't really neck dive...

I've really gone off Hipshot. The Ultralite are truly light, but I always find the gears seem stuff and don't turn easily\smoothly.

Gotoh stuff has always been excellent. Never tried the Resolites though.

Now there is a new member in my Soundgear family, a brand new SR300E to fill the void left by the old 90's SR800 I sold a few months ago. So far I like it, seems to offer a lot of different tones and compliment my other basses. It's easy to play (being a Soundgear, ofc) and the build quality is great. No sharp fret edges or anything like that, but I will need to spend some time with it to get the action right without to much fret buzz.

Will try it out for real at band practice tomorrow!

I picked up one of those back in January and really like it. For me, it was my first Ibanez, so it has opened up a new world for me. Very versatile and great playing bass.

A little Tuesday afternoon Soundgear bass pr0n...

Enjoying these three as I'm "working from home" today.

I strung the SR650 with D'Addario black nylon tapewound strings and I'm loving them. These combined with the awful MK1 preamp actually produce a great sound. The SR950's Ash/Ebony combo gives a much brighter sound than my other SRs. I used it at a rehearsal the other night and it sounded solid. I will be changing out pickups/preamps to both of these eventually.

The SR5SMLTD is my stand in while my Fodera gets serviced...

That is a tremendous collection. I love it. My favourite there go from left to right but they all look wonderful.

That SR5SMLTD is the one Ibanez bass I've never had the chance to get my hands on. Beautiful bass!!!

I've got the same pickup in my SRX, only with black pole pieces, and the BTB definitely has a better timbre & also more output. The timbre might be down to the mahogany vs. basswood, to some extent.

i might have a similar comparison going on with my basswood sr800 and mahogany sb900 since they both have the LO-Z pickups
