For those that want to hear for themselves, I've attached two files to demonstrate. The first is a P style bass for reference (a Peavey Fury with a '62 Fender pickup). It's played with fingers and then a pick. It's full sounding throughout. The second one is my 755 which admittedly has an upgraded pickup, but the pre is still the same. The pickup change (Aguilar) helped a little but not nearly enough. The issues are still there and easy to hear.

I listened to the clips..i have a '08 SR405 upgraded with all the bells and whistles..USA Bart pick ups..NTMB pre..same sort of issues..I've palyed a few other SDGR 5 strings..same..i think its the 5 string format causes string to string volumes to change..doesn't seem to happen with the four stringers..I've found tho' by playing close to the neck pick up..panning towards the front pick up with the balancer tends to even it out a bit..worth a try.

Visit my local GC yesterday and i found a Brown colour Ibby SRMS 805 hang on the wall.
As a previous SRFF805 owner, dude, this new SRMS sound is much better and tone is very even accross from string to string ( stock string ).
The SRMS have no such unbalance voice between B,E,A Vs D,G , the BH2 pup present full sounding D, G that i never get on SRFF805!!!
To my ear, this new BH2 also make the B string sound more refine than BH1 pup.

I would highly recommend you guys give the SRMS a try.

I just bought one,and am loving it!.

Ibagree, the BH2 pickups do seem to give a very consistent tone across the strings. Got some problems with the string heights on the the D that I need to do, but the rest are as clean as a whistle up and down the neck. Impressive!

Have you played around with the string spacing? Im curious about how wide these can comfortably go. The only thing i dont like about my 1205 is that 16.5mm bridge spacing.

I am at a loss as to why Ibanez didn't push the SR7 NTF series, SR700, SR755, SR756 which are all Norstrand designed PJ pickups. I stumbled on mine by accident looking for something lighter but still Fender-ish. I tried the SR655NTF but the 755 just felt better to me. It hasn't had that much time in a band setting as the band has faced a few tragedies recently so a lot of the recent fettling hasn't been tested out but with a bit of pick-up height tweaking I reckon it sounds very much like what I was hoping - and quality-wise it is an equal of my American Standard Jazz. Why do all the hard work then not push the product only to drop it down the track? Bit sad, really.

Last fall, I was looking for a bass with a PJ pickup configuration. I was pretty sure I'd end up with a Fender, but after checking around, I bought the Ibanez SR750 NTF. It's a great bass and very versatile and it plays very nicely. No buyer's remorse for me! Then, right after I bought it, they were discontinued.

Just because I get a dead spot problem on new Player P for exchange, I visit my local GC again. But, no others butter cream pbass in stock for exchange at the moment.

So, I decide exchange with SR306WB which I am totally satisfied with the powerspan pup AMD electronic on my SR300E.
After I try 3 piece of SR306 include one display unit, I am totally lost my GAS for it.

First, maybe I expect too much for it 34scale B string tone quality, she just sound boommy and uncomfortable tone.
Second, the E on SR306 are less low end energy than the E on SR300E even how I adjust the saddle and pickup height . The E and B string tone totally unmatch.
All pieces I try are pretty heavy, maybe more than 9lbs.

The Pro of the SR306WB are the neck is very comfortable and smooth even 6 string spec.

Yes, I am picky, but the SR300E absolutely fulfill me.

I'm as happy as with mine. Just lucky to find it though (the joys of the internet).

Perhaps someone could tell me, is the SR755NTF the same neck and body as the SR505 but with different pickups and electronics?

Could be, but in another thread a few years old Carey was quite effusive about the bass. I would have thought it in his interest to keep production going too.

No idea on that. There are some good options though; I just wonder if the other Nordstrand pickups would suit the narrow string spacing of my bass (which I consider a real selling point).

The SR755 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR5 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. Bubinga top/Mahogany body

SR505: 5-pc Jabota/Bubinga Neck, Jabota Fingerboard. Body Wood: Mahogany

Found this info pretty easily with googles
