The Soundgear Club

Hi all, I'm loving my relatively new SR-2600 but have discovered that a standard 9V battery doesn't fit in the compartment very well. I recall the battery it came with had more rounded edges and fit better but i no longer have it for reference. Is there a particular brand that has worked for anyone else who's experienced this?

Could be a screw in your battery compartment isn't drilled in all the way and is sticking up a bit. I had this issue on an SR605e I had--only the stock chinese battery was small enough to fit. Just look to see if a screw isn't screwed in all the way and screw it down. The battery compartments are standardized so its likely a screw issue.

I would have never thought of that. I'll have to remember that if I ever have the issue in the future!

I have a SR Limited 5er from 2020. The dragons eye model. Amazing bass. I come from a Jazz bass perspective. I also have a couple of BTBs that I like. The Big Singles sound better than any other bass I have (and I have about 30 basses).

I don't have any clips at the moment but I can say that my experience with the Big Singles has been very pleasant. I know this is not everyone's exp. but I have no hum when using either pickup singled

The clarity and headroom are amazing I was surprised. I love the quack I can get if I want but also easy to get that growl. I wonder whether they might be too clear for some people's liking.

I also noticed that I have been using my bass in passive mode a lot. I found a great growling tone in passive that I like.

Hope that helps. I'll try to get a sound clip tomorrow.

Beautiful - you will enjoy her each time you play! I have had my Sr5005 for 2months and i still find new sounds and have an extreme excitement each time i flick open the latches on her case! Enjoy

thank you, and I hope you continue to feel the same joy and inspiration when you play yours, too!

It is indeed a beauty, and I can't stop noodling with it. Probably the nicest instrument I own, I think. It sounds so great even unplugged.

My 4th Soundgear, a MIK SR500. It has a CP08 serial number, so may be one of the last Korean-produced ones before production was moved to Indonesia. You can see in first picture, the body needed some TLC…tried a few things and finally some lemon oil rubbed in seemed to improve things a bit (second picture). I have to say I love the MK1 pickups and stock preamp. None of the tone issues others have complained about.

For any of you string gurus out there, can anyone identify the set of rounds installed on this bass? Grey silk.

Not that this is any urgency or rush, more a curiosity than anything, but what are some good aftermarket preamps for the SR5000E series? I've looked at the Audere Classic so far.
People say nice things about the Aguilar OBP3, but I have Audere in all three of my basses. I can tell you all about them and what it's like to use them if you want. Super easy to install as well.

That would be my first choice. I'd go the treble / bass / high mids / low mids if I'm thinking of the correct layout. Leave the dummy switch.

I'll skip a long backstory, but I got this beauty working again after several years of putting it away for a while (almost forgetting about it really). I replaced the Bart MK1's with Nordstrand Big Singles (stock preamp). It sounds SO good!! This an SR-705 in Charcoal Brown (purchased back in 2012).

Gonna put this in heavy rotation again! :bassist::bassist::bassist:
