Seeing everyone else showing off their soundgears and how happy they are with them makes me want to show off my soundgears and talk about how happy I am with them. :D

Here's my 2006 SR1006 upgraded with an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp. It's just perfect.

Sounds nice! Interesting that the 250, 450, 700hz EQ points on the Bartolini preamp are nearly identical to the stock Ibanez preamp.

Looking forward to any vid/soundclips you out together. :thumbsup:

It's hard to choose I must say. I'd say that ANB205 (Adam Nitti signature) and my SR1006 probably tie for first. I really like neck thru basses, but I'm not much of a 4 string player anymore so the 900 doesn't get as much love as it should, though it's still a very good bass and sounds great with the upgraded preamp. And while the 16.5 mm spacing seems to be fine for me on a 6 string fretboard, the narrower neck of the 16.5mm 5 string SR5XXV make it less comfortable than the ANB205 for instance which has 18mm spacing and a slightly wider neck... sorry if that's more than you asked haha sometimes I ramble :D

Q: a Jazz sounds like a Jazz because of the dual pole pieces and location under the string, right?
(I think this is the right place for this because it's Soundgear specific)

Was considering how the GSRM25 miKro5 is a rare passive Jazz-Jazz sub 30" (miKro 4's are PJ).
The 'Jazz-ness' of solo'd PU's - dubby neck and jaco-e bridge - is possibly emphasized due to the reduced distances of 28.6" scale (but still 305mmR). I'm really happy with mine- nimble, durable, inexpensive and sounds absolutely killer.

Still... considered swapping out PU's. Not sure how 16.5mm string spacing at this scale on a 5 string using 'standard' neck and bridge (4 string? need to measure) width J's woks out.. so to negate pole position issues thought jazz rails would probably do the trick best. Rails are killer- humbucking and loud AF but I would want to emphasize the Jazz-ness, not move away (I put a rail in a Bronco that screams). Depending on space might adjust pots/capacitors too, dunno.

So, is the sound of solo'd Jazz in a J-J config pickup design or something else?

Cool, I'll have to try that sometime (I'm assuming everything is dimed)? Well, actually I tried a bit through my practice amp earlier and got some growl, but it was WAY too hot to control. Maybe this technique works better when recording, it seems like it's almost getting some natural grit/growl from the recording console. Great tone though! :bassist:
