I finally gave in to the temptation of a fanned fret Soundgear - I've never owned a fanned fret instrument before, but I know multi-scale basses have become quite popular the last few years. I'd always admired the SRMS model from afar, but finally decided to give it a shot. And WOW - glad I did! I think I finally understand the hoopla about multiscale instruments. Of course, the B is fantastic on a multi-scale bass (and everyone always talks about that the most) but not much mention on how clear the notes on the other strings speak too. It's incredibly easy to play and sets up with a very low action. This thing sounds great!

I highly recommed it - I gotta say, IMO it's the best sounding Ibanez I've owned to date. Some people bag on the BH2 pickups a little bit for being on the dark side of the tone spectrum (and they are), but wiring the pickups in parallel is easy to do. For a non-soldering solution, the onboard tone circuit board has 2 voicings (BEQ3 and VM3, I think). I moved the connector to the BEQ3 port and instantly got more than enough treble output.
i've had many eq bii woes
I think this is the third? fourth? for me.....but this one looks to be a lot easier then my 885le - it seems to not have the dummy coils under the pickups, which reduces the wiring mess a bit
I love SRs (I have 6), want a MS and love the black ice finish. Have fun.
I think I'm gonna get my Ibanez MS fix with an EHB though.
I'd been eyeballing the EHB1265 myself, but ultimately preferred the Poplar Burl tops & traditional SR body shape of the SRMS models. But who know, maybe down the line - always room for more Ibanez basses.
Thank You! I've only had it since this past Thursday but I've got it dialed in with a very low action - it plays effortlessly. The fanned frets really are great on ergonomics, especially at the low end of the neck. A wide variety of tones available as well - I'm really digging the Bartolini BH2 pickups. The bass has great articulation & clarity to the notes across all strings - I'm sure the multiscale has everything to do with that.

I did when it first came out, but as I'm mainly a 6 player, the 1006 took that position for a while. Now I'm not so sure and wonder if the 1265 might be a better option as I can do all the chordal and melody work fine on the other SRs and the SRC6 and use it as a straight up rock bass. Trouble is I have to order them to get to play as there are none in stock nearby and no returns on orders unless they're faulty.
This is true; my current count is 9.
Anyway, looking forward to your experience with your new axe.

I've only got 3, but that's 3 of my current 13. My collection is an odd mix.
i'm at 13 ibanezes. i think that's too many.
I think two more would be too many for you. One more--that might be OK.
A slippery - but understandable - slope when you live by this phrase! I'm at 4 total, which is ALL of my basses. I can't justify more, but I DO justify more pedals somewhat often...
So far so good - this is first full weekend I got to spend quality time with the SRMS805. I changed out the stock factory strings to something more familiar & fine-tuned the setup. I really feel this is the best sounding Ibanez I've owned so far.
The note articulation & clarity that the mulit-scale brings is fantastic! Coupled with the series-wired Bartolini dual coil pickups, it's awesome!
I traded in my 1345B for the SRMS805, and I have zero regrets. Even though on paper, the SRMS might be considered a "downgrade" maybe, but the build quality/feel & play is easily every bit as good as anything in the Premium line I've owned.

Oh, I never said I could justify it.
And my wife will tell you there is no justification for it.
But I never let that stop me!
I had to take an updated pic last Friday, as of now it's looking like this -
It's getting increasingly hard to get everything in one shot. My little brother's bass and guitar hang on the wall to the left, and there's a rack of 6 guitars on the floor to the left as well along with another LTD F-Series bass body laying on the floor behind my 6 string that will eventually get rebuilt into a functioning 5-string bass. Those guitars on the rack are all future refinish projects, when I get to them. I've also got one more bass I'm planning on building soon as well, so I'll need to start thinking about a stand for that too, along with the LTD 5-string. It's a hot mess that is constantly evolving.
