I went pawn shopping today and found two Made in Japan SRs. They weren't in the best shape but still I was encouraged to find any Japanese built SRs.
Both had the P/J config but I wasn't able to identify any model number. I didn't see a model number on the back of the head. They were painted solid colors so I assume they were at the lower end of the Professional series.

Aproud1 - haven't had a chance to get some yet, it's currently with my tech being rewired. I'm changing out the blend pot.

PDGood - if the necks were painted they were probably 800s, if not, I'd say they were 600s

Hahaha, yes it sure does! Silver would have been very good as well, but this is even better! Too bad it's not a MR bridge on it, otherwise you could have done the same with that

I actually had that idea. I didn't know anyone made a bridge like that, I'll have to check into that.

I mostly play my Squier VM Jazz fretless now, but this was my main axe for a long time. I think it's the mahogany body that imparts a tone with a lot of character. I put the pickguard on it to cover a divot put there by some prior owner. Someday I will try a 505 with the bartolinis, but for now, this thing sounds great.

Alright guys need some advice...my lovely fiancee just surprised me with a set of DR fat beams(45-105) and i need to restring my bass this weekend for my upcoming gig next week....anyone tried these with a SR500??? Ive played with them on my old schecter damien 4 and they were awesome, but have only had High beams on my sr500...i play progressive/slow/melodic/hard rock with elements of pink floyd to tool...i slap/finger pick/strum/tap in various songs.......i need advice please!

Hey, I just stumbled upon this thread. I love my '09 SR500. It's the 4th bass I've owned (after having a Dean, Fender P-bass, and an Epiphone) and hands down, this is my favorite of them all.
