Sorry I haven't been handing them out more frequently. My phone isn't pushing TB notifications for some reason, and I've been super busy with work and the baby. I'll try to get the phone issue resolved tonight, it's been annoying me. Also, I'm gonna try to finally get some pics of the 1015 up since I tore it apart and really cleaned it up. That should happen tomorrow since I have the day off.

Well, the SR shape is all about speed and comfort - fast neck, thin body, deep cutaways, light weight. Wouldn't make sense to me to have a single cut version, but then I don't get the single cut thing any way. It doesn't seem to add any advantage and makes access to higher notes more difficult and adds weight to the body. But you're certainly right - they are all the rage now and manufacturers tend to build whatever they think people will buy.

Just bought an SR700, bright amber. I really like it so far. I've been practicing (I wouldn't call it "playing" yet) w/ a Warwick Corvette Standard 5 string, which is great, but is just not a good fit for my hands; I kept straining my hand, and it is so heavy, it was giving me back pain. This just feels a lot more comfortable for me. I bought a MarkBass compressore at the same time, and my practicing has become much more enjoyable. Plus I've recently found some people to play w. So, a good month for me!

So this changed. About a week after I got my 705, the neck cracked. Don't know how or when, but I took it back to the store from which it came and they contacted ibanez and they sent me a replacement SR505. At first I was annoyed and felt like it was a downgrade, but they feel and sound almost identical to me, the 505 seems to have a little less high end. Now the only thing I miss about the 705 is the model number, and the finish.

Where did the neck crack? Thats pretty annoying.

The 705 is a very nice looking and playing bass but there is nothing wrong with the 500 series. Solid great playing basses.

Right below the headstock, I could see the truss did through it. The sort of crack you'd expect from it falling face down off of a stand or something like that.

Don't get me wrong I absolute adore the 505, I just sometimes get a little annoyed thinking I saved up for months and moths a d bought a (for me) high end bass, only to end up with a lower model number or the same price and through no fault of my own...

So they didn't refund the the difference in price? What store would do that? At a minimum that should be done. could you get a refund and buy the 705 elsewhere?

The 705 was on sale, down from $1200 to $800 AUD. they told me that the 505 is an updated year model and therefore is better/worth more than the 705 and because it was on sale the only option was to get a replacement.

Sorry it worked out that way. At least you have a bass you like and the preamp is easy enough to swap out. Still thats pretty rough.

Has anyone tried removing the "Phat II" from their Soundgear bass?

I took out out of my SGR205 and wired it straight "J" passive. Used to think it had noisy pu's, but it was just the "Phat II" board that was causing all the noise and killing the tone. The original Ibanez "J" pu's are truly amazing on their own. Very quiet and punchy. Our drummer heard them tonight at practice and he said, "Hey, when did you get the $1000 bass?"

Can I have a number? I've got an SR300DX, an SR505 and am seriously considering picking up an SR406 this weekend off craigslist. And speaking of that listing, do you guys have any input? I do prefer the 505's electronics slightly better than my 300, but I love both basses. My main concern is how the in-house Ibanez pickups sound on a six string. I love them on a four string, and the Bartolinis on my five are great. So, what do you guys think?
