The Explorer D is a brilliant phaser. I prefer 6-stage phasers on the bass and this one kills tonally and with all those wave forms. But, for me one coolest features is the manual setting. I used that to create bass tones that can only be created by sweeping to a frequency notch and staying on that notch.

The quality of course is top drawer and it’s a keeper.... the dangerous thing though, is now I want to try other spaceman pedals.

This is the funkiest phaser I have ever played through...by a mile. Well done Spaceman people.

Many thanks to @jwr !!! One new-to-me Spaceman Explorer to go with my Voyager - and Glou Glou and MXR Phase 100 and the rest of the toys! All of these phasers are great and i love them all for different reasons. The Explorer is a lot of fun. The waveshapes are very cool with lots of possibilities. I would do a demo but pretty sure @ProtonLenny has it covered already.

Here's a pic of the board - little jumbled at the moment reworking some ideas and making room for the Explorer.

Has anyone tried the Mercury iv? Thinking about getting one off Reverb. I've called all the dealers and the only one who has one doesn't ship. (????)

I play a p with TI flats and really dig saturating my sound just shy of breaking up and think it could make a good addition to this board.

Went ahead and bought a Mercury iv white edition off Reverb. It was a bit more than the black and silver editions but well below what other sellers were asking. The white and brass editions use the same transformer that the Mercury iii uses, and someone on thegearpage quoted an exchange with Zach, of Spaceman, that it's they are the same pedal as a Mercury iii with the exception of the tone controls. Really looking forward to putting it on my board. Pics to follow.

Got the Mercury iv this weekend. I haven't spent a lot of time with it, but I have it at the end of my board and am really liking it so far. The harmonics knob adds quite a bit if hair (for someone who doesn't use distortion or fuzz) and the boost is pretty middy, at least compared to my Atlas. I'm running just a little bit of boost, and have the harmonics around 3:00, which with my setup is just where the sound starts to break up. I've got a 58 AVRI P bass and bring down the volume and tone just a bit to dial back the hairiness. One of my holy grail tones is 2-4-6-8 by the Jackson 5, and this has me as close as I need to get to that: fully saturated but still clean. Really stoked to have finally achieved my ideal tone.

If you had to pick a boost, which would it be? Got my eyes on either a Mercury or an Atlas (going to be fed into a preamp/driver and then a tube preamp), maybe even a Saturn. Also looking into a Titan II- I’ve listened to it a lot but I play hard sometimes, what would that be like? How does it compare to other fuzzes?

Also, got a Voyager on the way! Super excited.

I think my favorite boost is the Saturn
