I like it!

It was waiting for me Friday night after work, but I had to go out and party with friends. I leave for rehearsal Saturday morning around 10:30, but I had to make an unexpected visit to the tire store so no chance to test it out. I had time to Velcro it up and put it on my board for a trial by band fire. Spent two minutes dialing in a sound for one song. It worked, did a fuzzy thing.

All day today in the yard stringing lights, sweating profusely, and all I could think of was my Nebula, sitting patiently in the cool air conditioned house.

FINALLY, I got to spend 30 minutes, just me and my gear on a proper test drive.

This is a thinking mans fuzz. It’s not like some where you max the one or two knobs, and whoomph there it is. Lots of interactivity between the various parameters, resulting in many different types of sounds. Some traditional, many of them not so traditional, often not what I expected. The toggle in the infinity position offers up some cool fluctuations and travel in the decay of notes. I have a strong feeling about stacking this thing. So far it’s very cool before a wah and a phaser.

It’s as if Spaceman had run its course with “fuzz”, and wanted to stretch their creative limbs. I’m excited by what this has to offer.

So I’m in the market for a Fuzz and was all set on a Red Witch Zeus, but then these Spaceman pedals caught my eye - the Titan II and Nebula. Given that there’s not a great deal of difference in the price, would there be any reason in getting the Titan II? Am I right in assuming that the Nebula would have a Fuzz that is just as good as the Titan II, with the added appeal of the octave? Would really appreciate some comparative opinion on both pedals, if anyone has experience of both.

Different fuzzes. Check out Zach Rizers demo for both on his YouTube channel. Both killer - the Nebula is more flexible, the Titan is crushing.

I agree with your opinions on the qualities of the two fuzzes. Also, I asked Zach about the same question on his Nebula video and he replied: "I still can't replace my Titan II. It just has something special to me. But the fuzz on [the Nebula] is really musical and controllable." So there's that, I suppose.

To me, the Titan is more a classic Spaceman fuzz like the silicon side of the Gemini or the Spacerocket where the Nebula is kinda it’s own beast with some definite Brassmaster toanz but so so much else under the hood.
