You have to remember that all current Sci Fi / Fantasy shows are based on humans, due to our own limitations. Most sentient beings are shown as bi pedal and single headed, because that is what WE expect intelligent life to look like (Horta's notwithstanding). Earth has a limited racial diversity, that we have to work inside of. Other intelligent species may be a lot more (or less) diverse in skin tones and extremities than we think. :)

Maybe. But even with the availability of CG, I think alot of current human-like aliens on screen today (and certainly in the past) has more to do with limited special effect budgets than with our expectations of what life would look like.

It just costs ALOT to visually create believeable non-humanoid aliens. Most shows don't have the budget.

It was supposed to be the guy who did the Fargo show, which was promising because that guy takes existing material and does his own thing with it. I hope it's cancelled though. Just end it already. I can't take much more.

The tipping point might be the pandemic and the precarious state movie theaters are in right now. Tenet hasn't done nearly as well in the US as was hoped for. I'm just speculating though.

Just got through the Sherlock Homes episode of TNG. Ugh. I really like classic mystery TV and movies but I've got masterpiece theater for that.

I remarked to my wife that these kind of episodes we're one more reason DS9 is better.

Sherlock & Star Trek?

"Elementary Dear Data" or "Ship in a Bottle?" I like them both, but Ship in a Bottle is a better epsidode.

I really enjoyed both episodes. Usually I'm very critical of storylines involving the holodeck but I thought the 2 Moriarty episodes were very well written and that clever use was made of the technology without being used as a convenient plot device to force some implausible situation on the audience.

I believe both episodes tend to rank fairly high on lists of popular TNG episodes.
