Perhaps, but it also plays to the ego they say Shatner has (or at least had)-he seems better now.
But Shatner or Takei could work.
Nimoy would have worked as well at one time.
This guy takes outtakes and edits the scene together with them in. It's funny stuff.
She's a ten. I'm in love. But she
would be awful for Star Trek. Like the girl from Alita who was in a short trek.
Some comedy is fine, but Star Trek should be smart. The comedy should be smart. So she'd actually be perfect for new trek. Might as well put Will Ferrell in.
Didn't read this entire thread but am I the only one who thinks DS9 is the best of them? By means perfect but its got a good amount of grit. It's the only series I've been able to get all the way through and I'm partly through a rewatch.
I'm watching TNG now and it's pretty good I hope to watch the entire series. Have attempted enterprise, original and voyager and they all fell short for me.
Maybe it's because I didn't grow up on ST. I watched DS9 and TNG occasionally as a kid but SW was more my speed.

For me it's a toss up between TNG and DS9. Voyager has its moments. I like Enterprise more now than when it was on originally. And I could take or leave the original series. I didn't grow up with it and it's hard for me to enjoy tv from the 60s.
Voyager is very flawed but had some good sci fi stories. Too many of the main characters sucked. Janeway is an immoral thug. Chakotay is just kind of there. Tom and Harry are not hateable, but not likeable. Torres was alright once she stopped acting constantly angry. We get it, you're torn between two worlds. Good for you. Now calm down and develop a personality. Tuvok was good. He was the calming, rational center of the senior staff. The doctor was great. Funny most of the time, annoying enough to annoy people without going overboard, and he had his dramatic moments too which he did really well. Seven of Nine was charming and interesting and more than just her body. Despite their troubles, things were too easy for them. They'd talk about dwindling supplies while the ship looked as pristine as the Enterprise D throughout the whole show. Stranding a ship 70,000 light years away from the Federation could've been done much better.
I always found the idea of a Black Vulcan implausible (Weird in the context of a show where basically everything is implausible). I'm not a racist, but I always thought it was not very believable. From what little I've seen, I do like the character tho.
This jives with I remember of what I remember about the better part of a season I got through. It never reallyfelt like they were really in that much of a crisis.
TNG is also a show that I'm watching with my son and he seems to be enjoying as much as I enjoyed DS9.
Why? It would actually make more sense for all Vulcans to have dark skin since they evolved on a desert planet, but as is it's not implausible that different physical traits and skin tones would evolve based on geography.
But exactly like on earth? I found the subspecies of Andorian (from Enterprise), the ones the Romulans were using to drive their ship telepathically, to be much more believable.
And the Romulans are the greener, meaner, uglier version of Vulcans, which sort of makes sense as they are an offshoot of the Vulcan race.

Then the camera zooms out even further and we see George Takei with Shatner in his rifle scope and we hear the POP. A smile breaks out on his face and he turns to the camera and says... Sweet revenge! It almost writes itself.

And according to "The Chase" all four limbed humanoids were the result of directed panspermia so they're all related. Real Trek isn't perfect, but it's still better than new Trek.
