The Star Treks

Voyager's writing team did the best job of closing out the series. They are head and shoulders over the others. Enterprise is literally the polar opposite. That writing team needs to be spaced.

The two part series finale of TNG was excellent. They put a lot of thought and effort into it. It always makes the list of top fan favorite episodes.

Unfortunately, most of the episodes that led up to it were just awful. Everybody knew from the beginning that they were being canceled at the end of the season so they had a very meager budget and some of their writing talent had premptively moved on to new projects.

Because they were saving their money to splurge on the finale, most of the other episodes suffered from a severe lack of resources.

In one of the episodes that features Worf, they cut back on his usually costly wardrobe and extensive makeup and prosthetics by writing his character to be disguised as a human as part of an arbitrary plot point. It was basically Michael Dorn wearing civilian clothes throughout the episode. Lame.

Kids gave me the 4 Discovery dvds as they knew I’d watched the first 3 series. So, I’ve now started S4, 5 episodes in.

Thoughts? I think it is improved but I still find most of the characters unlikable and some (?) of the plot’s implausible but I can watch and enjoy as ‘just a show’.

I am now expecting that they will move to have the computer listed as a sentient being. That’s my guess.

Well, I tried to finish S3 of Picard but had to skip the last 5 episodes to get to the final 10 minutes.
It was pretty awful.. Can't see S3 fixing the unlikable characters and bad writing.....

So I started Strange new worlds.
Much better actors and the story line seems nice...
Keeping fingers crossed. (Season 2 has finished filming and will be out this year)

I thought it was cool to see what he really looked like after so many years!
Same as seeing Geordi on kids shows...haha

Voyager and Picard....

Jeri Ryan as 7 of 9 was amazing as I keep saying....But lost ALL her appeal as that character in Picard, where she was just another beautiful kickass American woman...cool, but not 7 of 9.
Imagine they had done that to Spock....No Thank you! and Data....Nope!
All appeal gets lost when they just become themselves as humans! To me anyway.

A HUGE part of their charm is the characters they play!

Really enjoying Strange New Worlds; great cast and acting with good pacing and writing. A season 2 is coming.

I figured out why Picard seasons 1&2 was blah.
Normal episodes have a beginning, middle and end with possible cliffhangers and issues to be dealt with in future episodes.

Picard seemed to be filmed as one very long movie, with episodes divided out. Not the way you do it folks.

Watching through voyager right now. I like all the series but ToS is the lowest on my list. Nothing personal, just isn't as entertaining to me and I prefer the more "thoughtful" modern series.

The ending season of Entrprise was an absolute dumpster fire, though. I mean, good grief.
