I just sent my deposit and specifications to Mr. Green. The USD is at its most favorable exchange rate in nearly 8 years so I figured the time was right!

Series 3, Neck Through, Headless, 5 string, Fretted
2 piece, lightweight Mahogany body (dark stained to highlight the contrast layer)
Highly figured top (either Movingui or Quilted Maple, TBD based on photos)
Finish; high gloss and color to be determined based on top selection (if Movingui is selected, finish will be either tobacco burst or dark cherry/amber burst, if Quilted Maple is selected, finish will be natural/amber)
Standard pickup spacing
Standard electronics
Hardware: to be determined based on top/stain selection (black if Movingui/tobacco burst, gold if Quilted Maple/amber)
LEDs: White wrap around

Now, the long wait....

That sounds about right for a custom Status. Please do post when it's arrived! And any progress pics! I want to see the figured top.

What are the frets made of on Fender replacement necks like mine? I'm curious. They seem bigger than standard frets. I wonder about their longevity and resilience compared to Fender frets or if there's no difference at all.

Got this from status. S3 with the paramatrix eq and status jazz pickups. Headless and neck through. Stunning sounds from old school to modern but always alive.
This complements another S3 with standard status electronics and an s2 with status half wounds. These strings are amazing. Deep full sound with just enough growl.

I finalized the specifications with Mr. Green.
I'll be going with a highly figured piece of Movingui, Vintage tint (recommended by Mr. Green for this particular piece), and gold hardware. All the other specs will remain the same.
It's going to be a long 12 weeks!

Hey folks, I'm looking into the possibility of ordering a Status Graphite bass guitar - those of you with Status basses that have the "mono-rail" bridge units, just how low can you get the action on these basses? I've never owned a bass that had bridge units quite like those.

I'm on the verge of ordering my first Status, Rob and I have been talking. I'm thinking a Series 3 bolt neck headless 5 fretted, single soapbar with three band EQ, black hardware. I'm just trying to decide the body wood - either alder with a figured ash bookmatched top in clear or mahogany with a figured walnut top. Decisions, decisions...

I'm trying to talk myself into LEDs, too.

One of the great advantages of a Status bass is the wide tonal range one can get with dual soapbars, mid sweep control, etc. Why are you going with a single soapbar? I would think it will limit the versatility of the bass.

I don't do two pickup basses and prefer the simplicity of a single. I don't chase tones.

Sorry folks. Something odd happened in that, while I was getting "alerts" on the TalkBass UI about activity in other threads I watch, I had none about this one for the past month or two. It was only because I got a "you're ignoring a watched thread" alert by email that I came and checked. I'd thought things had just gone quiet, as they sometimes do. Clearly I've got catching up and cleanup to do. More on this shortly...
