The Status Register - Official Status Graphite Club

OK, there's been some new owners posting over the past few months and I've been remiss in updating the Status Register. New members are - in order of posting photos:

Welcome one and all.

Ah... you can recycle my number. Although I loved the sound of the Streamline, I was never able to get it adjusted to my liking. After much back and forth discussion I ended up returning the bass to England for repairs, and Rob (to his credit) offered me a full refund. Still chasing after the import taxes paid, but it appears I will eventually get those refunded as well...

Well, since we're unlikely to run out of positive integers any time soon, I'm generally not recycling numbers, though if you like I can put an asterisk after your name on the master Google doc that is the Status Register roster.

What did you have a hard time getting right on the Streamline? As per the first post of this thread, my first Status was a Stealth, in large measure because I was concerned that I would not be able to get right with the ergonomics of a body-less bass without a Steinberger-style pivot plate. I ultimately broke down and bought a Streamline and am pretty happy with it - it's true that the ergonomics aren't as good and it can't really be played over the full neck the way the Stealth can, but most material I play doesn't go there, and having a bass I can sling over one shoulder, so that I can carry my full small rig in one trip to/from the car has given it more playing time in the average month, despite that.

And kudos to Rob for being magnanimous with the refund.

It needed major fretwork to get rid of huge fret buzzes in a couple of critical areas. Basically nothing that a partial refret and plek probably wouldn't fix. But when Rob got it back he decided that even fixed up, I probably wouldn't be real happy with it. (I was very clear about my expectations for buzz-less playing action).
It was just really bad luck I guess - I can only assume that something went screwy with the build. It was being built right about the time that the shop manager there had his motorcycle accident...

Updated full Status Register follows. Feel-X got banned for some reason, but didn't misbehave here, so I count him. I don't *think* he's the same person as Felix Lopez, but am prepared to stand corrected (and give Felix Feel-X's number in that case):

Sorry, I know this is in the wrong place, I couldn't find the new thread option. I just received delivery of a Stealth headless 4 string fretless, fitted with Paramatrix EQ and Tri -Max pickups . Pics will follow. This bass is AMAZING !!! My question is: Are there any resources available regarding the Paramatrix EQ and Tri-Max pickups? Tutorials, how to's ? Thanks for all your help.

I have this pickup and EQ set up in an S3 (it's in my avatar). For me the key to getting a good tone is in the low mids controls. I set the frequency sweep to the low end of its range and then turn the cut/boost to boost about 25% from the detent.

This fills in the lows nicely. Tweak the sweep and boost a little depending on the room/amp/cab/taste. I use both pickups on, dual coil mode (middle position) and the rest of the controls on the guitar and amp (Berg B amp with berg 410 or 210 or a Mesa subway 115 or DI via a Tech 21 QStrip DI) flat (unless some minor flavoring is required).

At first I was concerned that I had all these controls and set them flat. Now I don't care. It's a Status and it sounds like a Status!

Hope this helps.
