Posted this as a NBD but, seems like it should be posted here.... Scored Walter Becker's S2 Classic over the weekend. Bought it off the person that won the auction.
It's real nice, as expected. Plays great, hangs great on a strap. Clean punchy even tone all over the board. I've never been too much of a graphite guy.... so, we'll see if we bond. Gonna gig it this weekend at the Hard Rock Cafe in AC.

Wow, in spite of the famous previous owner, looks like you got it a bit below the going rate for one of those things too. Very nice!
Not sure where to post this,or how to get there. I have a Stealth 4 String Fretless. I'm going to be changing the strings and cleaning the fret board (sparingly), with some WD 40 for the first time. I use double ball strings. Is there any procedure,or order for taking them off/ putting them on, that will minimize neck movement, and truss rod adjustments? I know Graphite is very stable, just wondering what to expect. Thanks in advance for any help.
WD40? WD40 is a strange chemical brew, and I was initially alarmed to see you propose using it - but apparently it's what Status recommends for cleaning their ebinol fingerboards. Ease of string change is actually one of the multiple advantages of a headless design - which I assuming is what you have on your Stealth, 'cos you're talking about double ball strings. You just tune down until there's enough slack to pop the bottom end of the string out of the C-shaped "jaw", then from the slot on the nut. Replace with reverse operation - through the nut, into the jaw, then tighten and tune. Like many guitar/bass players, I have an old habit of changing strings one at a time to minimise neck movement, but that's only really necessary for very fragile instruments - which the Stealth is not. But for a neck cleaning, it would indeed simplify things to take them all off at once. The main disadvantage of changing all the strings at once on your first change is that you can't look to see that the new strings are in their slots and jaws in the same way as the old ones. So, before you start, study how it was strung at both ends, and maybe take some close-up photos.

I wouldn't worry about strength. I've heard it suggested that the hollow necks make dead spots more likely but who knows. My only beef with some of the five string Statuses is that I find the G string to be a bit close to the edge of the fretboard.I should have Streamline 5 en route to me shortly (can't wait)

- The strength, stability, and rigidity come from the graphite/epoxy monocoque shell. It's pretty tough. My Streamline 5 had a nasty fall which only took a small chip out of what would pass for the binding near the nut.
Arguably, you should have asked these questions BEFORE you ordered, but, fortunately, there's not much to complain about. I have both a Stealth and a Streamline. The ergonomics are slightly better on the Stealth for playing way up the neck, but I really never play in that register, and the Streamline gets more play time just because it's more practical to transport.
Pay attention to how well the upper bout end of the strap is placed over the strap button. It's well positioned for balance and everything, but it's a little unusual as a placement and angle, and I found it easy to do a half-assed job (which is what led to the fall I mentioned, as well as a couple of near-drops) until I updated my reflexes.
I like the stock Status humbuckers, the same on both the Stealth and the Streamline, which I find somewhere between EMGs and MusicMan (but closer to EMG) in tone. The 18V active system produces a very clear, hi-fi, hot signal. For the Stealth, I took the 3-band option (which is a little odd - it's a fixed amount of cut or boost, with a sweepable frequency), which I have occasionally found useful, but it's not an option on the Streamline, and, frankly, I haven't missed it. I typically have the eq in the flat position, with the balance tweaked slightly in favor of the neck pickup.

I have a Stealth 4 string Fretless. There's some light string wear on the fretboard from the round wound strings. Can I take some light grade sand paper to the Phenolic fretboard to get rid of them? What grit should I be looking for? Thanks for any help.
I'd email Status directly, if you haven't already, and also suggest starting a new thread on the topic of "Polishing Ebanol Fingerboards", as I suspect that there are non-Status players on TB who have had the same problem and who could share their experience.
