So we did something different last night. A friend of mine is the athletic director for a college in town and they had their annual awards ceremony last night. Instead of having a DJ, he asked Monobrow to play. It was pretty interesting, basically we had to play between speeches or as people were accepting their awards, taking photos etc. We mixed it up some monobrow material with some covers, lots of funkadelic, clutch, meters, Zappa, kyuss and the like. We weren't sure how some 20 year old kids were going to respond, but it went really well. Apparently they loved the idea of a live band instead of the usual DJ setup. We even got asked to come back next year.
Overall it was a great learning experience, and it was quite fun.
Time to prepare for the record release show tonight.
Just little snippets of each, 30-60 seconds usually.
New Indian album is making the rounds.
And it's sick. It's got me more excited than any other release in recent memory.

Damn that sucks. I didn't like the last album as much but the ritual fires of abandonment is a classic. And I never got to see them liveSad news, everyone:

Damn... I need to find some doom-oriented road trip buddies. Chicago is only a 4 hour drive (when traffic near the city is good), but I hate going down there by myself.
Are there any other Michiganders who are up for carpooling to shows like this once in awhile?
