The stoner/doom bassists thread...

Don't get much chance to gig my GK rig anymore, so it sits in my bedroom.
When I am feeling crazy I combine it with a Hartke 210XL and a Hartke 2500 amp...that equals a 2x10 and a 2x15 with 180 Watts into each cab. Pretty dang doomy.

Some clips from the MONOBROW release show last night. It was a really good night, lots of good music, good people and good time.

We opened the show with our version of Maggot Brain (Mono Brain)

This is a newer track that will likely be on the next album.

The boys from The Ditch decided they wanted to add some vocals to Low Water.

My favorite part though was ending the night on another funkadelic tune, we jammed on Mommy What's a Funkadelic for a good 5 minutes but unfortunately it did not get caught on tape.

Very nice Monobrow!

I heard that when Eddie Hazel first played Maggot Brain for George....

GC said to him "that really good...but I want you to play it again and this time before you play it...I want you to think about how you felt when your mom passed away and play it with those emotions..."

One of the best guitar songs, EVER!

I would argue it is the best :)

Anyone looking for a new rig of doom or want to expand on theirs?

Here is your chance

Yo, thombo and other Denver folks... My band is playing 3 Kings this Friday (April 15th). It'd be rad if you came!

I'll try to get out of work early and make it down!

On another Denver note, I'll be at the Lion's Lair this Thursday, April 14th. Us (Cult of the Lost Cause), Joy Subtraction, and Undergound Cities (from Phoenix). The 810 you traded to me will be in full effect!

^No I must have missed them. I walked in half way through Kylesa's set. Im not a big fan of Kylesa, but they were actually better live. Didn't know they had two drummers.

I believe Red Fang played that night as well. Missed them too, though.

Having two drummers is hard to pull off, with a lot of skill, can sound great!

Doesn't fit the minimalist ethic a lot of stoner rock bands seem to love going for, but deviance from the norm is usually good in music.

Aw, man.. Thursdays are impossible for me. My boy has karate, homework, and bedtime at 8:30. Drop me a note when you're on for a Friday or Saturday.

Actually, we're in the middle of booking a show at Bushwhacker's on May 15th. It's not final yet, but it's in the works. I'll see if we can get you on the bill. So far it's just us and we've emailed Low Gravity. PM me your email and we'll go from there.
