Nothing wrong with people being all about your band and your tunes. I've been called out by people I don't recognize and have even got complimented on my tone

Didn't say it was wrong, just a first for me. Pretty cool to know that we left an impression on someone.
For my doomish electronic stuff (NonCompliance) I typically stick to my Ovation Magnum and either a DBA Fuzz War or my Modded Deucetone Rat. My amp being a Mesa Bass 400 with a 2x15 Roadready and 1x15 diesel cabinet.
I like to keeps it simple when I am playing against a drum machine and various electronics. I let them provide the funny swooshy sounds, I just provide the grinding hopelessness.
For my most recent former band I played EBMM Stingrays and Sterlings, no effects, just the amp at full on. That band was hilarious. The lead guitarist was a total drunk. The drummer a partial drunk and stoner, me I just drink coffee and on occasion smoke, the guitarist singer-AA.
