The stoner/doom bassists thread...

Are they still playing? They're pretty much my favorite band, and usually they come through once a year, but it's been a while since I've seen them on the road.

I know that some of the guys have some side projects going on. I'm not really sure if they're still together. They haven't played in a while. I'm going to see Lightning Bolt Sunday night I'm sure I'll run into someone. I'll find out.

rratajski, +1 on the drummer, you guys (and lady) sound great!

I was checking out your the facebooks page and saw your guitarist playing what looked like an 8-string... do my eyes deceive me? any thoughts on it? I imagine it being cool for drones and unisons, though i can also imagine it getting in the way of a your bass magic. Do you know how he tunes that beast?

Matt Pike uses/used a *9 String First Act* not sure of the brand.

Pike plays a 9-string is a First Act. If tuned in standard tuning, hi E, B, & G are doubled (like a 12 string), while the D, A, & low E are single. rratajski's guitarist plays an 8-string like w/out doubled sting- F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E like guitarists in Meshuggah.

Not sure when we will release it, we just released the vinyl edition of the first album so we need to try and get some of those sold first. It's hard enough to get people to buy 1 record much less 2. But we'll see how it goes, the sooner we can reduce our stock the sooner we can add some new stock.

Ill post some of the takes from the studio sessions once we get them.

the new Young Widows was the soundtrack for the weekend... EPIC!!! It's heavier and darker but less metal (however that works). hit it, it's sick!!!

I've been listening to this album almost every day for the last few weeks. Killer stuff!

Few other albums I've been diggin on recently...

Kowloon Walled City - Gambling on the Richter Scale
Ladder Devils - Forget English - http://ladderdevils.bandcamp.com/
Belzebong - Sonic Scapes & Weedy Grooves - Link Removed

My doom brethren will definitely want to check out Belzebong if nothing else.
