Posted this in the recordings forum too, but figured I'd throw it in here. Unmastered tracks from last weekend's recording session. Let me know what you think.

awesome tunes, what are you using bass gear wise? The overall sound is really good, some of the vocals remind me a little of newer era Mastodon. Nicely done.

Thanks guys & the recording setup was:

50/50
G&L L2k (passive, series) -> SansAmp BDDI (not sure on the settings... engineer tweaked it) -> board

BDDI parallel out -> SVT -> 810 -> mic (not sure which) -> board

I think he may have compressed the end signal a tad too. Vocally it was just 3 different tracks laid on top of each other. As far as tweaking goes it's compressed, but that's all. No pitch shifts or auto tune or anything. This was only my second time recording vocals & it was the first time doing the three track thing & man... Voice was shot after 3 hours of tracking. It was hard.

Great stuff dude! I were checking out 'Probable Moustache Sighting' and 'The Radio In Between' yesterday and really enjoyed them. Love the classic influences. Digging your Geezeresque stuff in the beggining om 'Grommet' and really liked how you guys tied that song up. And ****, 'This is Herman Nelson', that is some powerful stuff.

Tasty! Am I hearing some envelope action going on near the end there?

Some more new(er) tracks that we are working on for the next record. just some rough recordings from our last rehearsal.

How do you get that recording at practice? Do all of you run through a board or something? Really good quality.

There's a new Bongripper EP out:

Sex Tape/ Snuff Film 7 inch | Bongripper

Different from Satan Worshiping Doom, but still pretty awesome.

Sick. Slow, heavy, and awesome... Mostly slow, anyway.

Good ear. I used a Subdecay Proteus but I am not sure if I can get it to really cut through in our mix. Might work better once in the studio. I could barely tell it was on.

Don't know how well it could work for you, but have you tried with a little bit of fuzz in front of it? I'm thinking that maybe the oxfuzz turned up and blended very clean could accentuate the filter more and make it stand out while still retaining dynamics and the mellow feel of the part.

SM 57 on the guitar cab, another 57 or speaker DI on the bass, two cheap peavey mics about 2 feet of the ground on either side of the drum kit. All goes into a 4 track Tascam cassette recorder. I mix it all onto soundforge when I get home. Easy to record when there are no vocals :D

Thought of that but I'm too lazy to rearrange my board. Weekend project I guess.
