The Strymon Timeline: Damn straight, it needs it's own thread

SPLOOFGH.

i was TRYING to be classy and change the name to Vroooom or something not offensive (i just smack keys for a title when i'm recording at home), but my singer grrL was like, "uh... NO. i LIKE that name. stop being a little *****.".

i....... i might love her a little.

Hmm, wondering about the midi pedal vs just moving the Timeline down to the lower level of the board. The built-in switches are functionally ok for me - I just need to get to them without a tap dance.

Though one thing I've been wondering about - being able to be in looper mode and also changing the delay preset and tap temp. Or do I need to go into looper, lay down my loop, then go out of looper mode and change my presents there. But then I have to go back into looper mode to stop the loop.

Or I could just use my Boss looper - but frankly the tone of the Timeline loops is intoxicating.

I just ordered one. Looks like there now is a 4th mode which does looper volume which is a feature that I already know I want. Looks like I may be able to bump the RC-2 off the board. If I can leave the Timeline is regular delay mode and get at the looping via the DMC-3, I think I get my cake and eat it too...

Yes, that's my TimeLine, which arrived today. I've been using it during the whole morning (and I'll spend the afternoon doing the same) and I'm still in awe. I can't believe the amount and quality of the things this unit can do. To me, this is a great example of something that gives you in return much more from what you paid for. In spite of the high price tag, I don't think this is an expensive piece of gear. It is absolutely worth the money.

Those are exactly my feelings. I wholeheartedly agree with the OP.

I'm of the belief that pedals that cost $500 should be used on the pedal board and mixing board. The Eventide Space, The Strymon Timeline. If you guys are only using this for bass, this is a waste IMO! Stereo ins/outs, MIDI, plus the Eventide boxes have switchable line level inputs/outputs. I had absolutely no interest in this type of gear until I saw the possibilities for using it on tons of different input sources.

then go for it, by all means! I suppose nothing would stop me from buying a diamond memory lane for one instrument. Just saying the Strymon and Eventide boxes are extremely versatile and can be used for lots of stuff.

edit: also suffering from a syndrome caused by extreme obsession with synthesizers. and a lot more time on gearslutz than TB.

Just hooked up my 25k VP-Jr to the TimeLine's exp jack via Hosa insert cable... Works great! Though I wonder if a different ohm value would work a bit better, as the effect curve is weighted towards toe-ward (like the last 30% or so). Still, fun.

I love being able to assign any and all (white marked) knobs for exp control! I almost got some convincing ring-mod tones out of the TimeLine this way. Can't for the life of me recall how I did that, but I found myself in a ring-mod sonic battle with my GF and her Ringworm flavored guitar signal yesterday. My noises almost matched hers for rediculouslilarity.

so...much...fun...

...and, I'm still anxiously awaiting the arrival (two more weeks, I think) of my DMC-3XL for even more exp control. boo-wah-hah-hah!
