Would 300mA be enough for the underground accelerator? Possibly just would need to give it more warm-up time? I've been running it off its own 1000mA brick, but it picks up some noise that way, and I'd prefer one of the isolated spots off my Aetos if that could work. I guess long term I want to swap my pedal supply anyway.

That'll be fine, just allow a few secs for warmup

I'm loving my UA, sounds great for bass but honestly I'm most impressed by the versatility for guitar. It is such an ideal pedal platform, I feel like I can make it do anything.

Bonus question: have there been any sushi pedals with a cab sim besides the Venus? I guess some of the HPF toggles might have that in mind? I feel like a simple analog cab sim toggle on the small form pedals would be perfect.

The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] had an analog speaker sim. That pedal is on my guitarish board.

My apologies to everyone whose PM has been sitting in my inbox for a couple days, it's been a busy weekend trying to get my taxes filed while also trying to catch up on orders of the With Bass In Mind Finally. I just shipped all the ones me and the wife have been working on all weekend; it turns out if the two of us are working together we can churn out 21 pedals in 2 days.

Anyway I desperately need a shower (my wife is a patient woman, but she has her limits), then I promise I'll sit down and answer PMs and emails, then get some sleep so I'm not dead for the day job in the morning. Then do it all again starting tomorrow night ;)

Picked up my Nobelium this afternoon and drove straight to rehearsal.
And man is this a sweet one!
Love the hpf too, really cleaned up my piezo-only fretless sound. And was super strong with my Big Al.
Had to plug in and turn on again when I got home. It's really great driving my active GR cab!

The baxandall/james tonestack is inherently lossy, I just never realized how lossy until I ran this with no makeup gain on the output.
That's it. It sounds really good (like REALLY good), but it's not loud enough. It has a lot of potential, but it needs some work.

Are you using the single or dual bass capacitor tonestack? If you're using the dual, switching to the single would get you around 15db more signal back with a simplified circuit and fewer components.

Duly noted, I may give that a shot. I use the dual because that's what Ampeg used, I didn't even think about trying the single. Thanks for the suggestion :bassist:

I had a go with the online TSC simulator and had a really hard time flattening out the HiWatt. There's always a dip between ~300Hz and ~2k that changes position and depth but always seems to be there. Is this just the character of the Hiwatt, or is there a way to flatten it and I'm missing it?

That's just the character of Hiwatt, it never goes completely flat like most of the others do.

Hey all any advice for a good tube to replace the stock one in a v1 finally? Just been talking with Nathan, it appears mine has gone microphonic. I've been liking the sound but interested if ppl like something different. I run the gain between 9 and 1030 (depending on the gainstaging upstream of it) for saturation but not overdrive (tho my meatbox always does get it to drive a little lol)

I swapped in a 12AT7 for my active bass. It gives me a little more clean room to play with.

If you want to get a little gritty/hairy around 1 o'clock, 5751. If you want to stay pretty much clean on the whole sweep, 12AT7
