I went from being a "plug-n-play" type of dude to a "which preamp do I feel like today?" kind of dude. It's been a lot of fun, hard to choose which I like best out of all the combinations I've used so far. But I like 'em all so far.Some people are evil/enablers.
The Bassdude is very interesting, and on “the list,” but I’ve got so many great sounds to explore right now…

Anyone using an Underground Accelerator into the Finally DI?
I’m thinking about those two together since I’d like to get the tone shaping ability of the accelerator and the capability of adjusting the di and thru volumes independently.
This would be for a mostly amp less set up.

I have before and am again. It’s a really cool old school tubey tone. Big and open sounding with some grit to it.
I personally prefer the sb more into a lba 23fe into broughton rfe and then sb finally v2
It looks like a basic Fender with the mid turned all the way up (since there is no mid), you can easily replicate it online with the TSC calculator. (Keep Mids all the way up)
I think R21 (2k7) resistor is in the Mid pots position so you can change the mid dip by changing the value of R21, or even installing a pot instead of R21.

Here is the sweep setting with a 25k pot for R21, the pot gives you a working mids control.
A 25k pot allows it to be nearly a flat line for the tone control with mids on full.
With a 5k pot you would have the standard Nobelium with the pot at 12 o'clock.

Yep, I'm really enjoying the pairing, I've got them as the final part of one side of a stereo setup, the other using an Arkham Oracle, they work well together, different enough to give a nice two amp setup sound, but complimentary to each other.
I'll probably end up with some of the other sushi box single preamps in the not too distant future, not because there's anything wrong with the UA, but having enjoyed those two so far, I think I'll like having other options depending on my mood etc.
Played out with this setup for a long time; studio sessions as well. Works great. The real trick is just figuring out how much gain you want to apply to both the preamp and DI preamp; but that's certainly not a chore they play nicely together.
I do. I’ve used this setup for some time now, however I am using an SV-Pre also to get an Ampeg tone. Got about 50 or so gigs with this IEM board, been all over the Midwest at all kinds of venues and fests. Been rock solid and great sounding without fail.
I set everything to unity gain and adjust the gains on the SB to give me just the right amount of dirt I like when I dig in. It is very responsive to my dynamics. I love it.
First pedal board done. I think I'm a SushiBox fan.
EDIT: Don't judge me for the one out of place cable on the right hand side Lightning Boy. I ran out of flat patch cables. Yes, it bothers me as much as it does you.

I often see people asking “will too many tube pedals muddle my tone?” I suppose that depends on how many is too many.
I’m setting up a new board (just acquired a Metro 20), for an upcoming blues jam, that includes a Bug Drive, Westinghouse, and Archetype Preamp. With these three always on there was nothing but sweetness and joy. So with the right three, that’s not too many.

I think the most tubes I've ever had actively in use in a pedal board was 8. The board had a total of 13 tubes, but I never had a reason to use all at once.
I use many tubes. 10 on the floor, 8 at most in use at once.My tone has never been crisper or clearer. The Edison,More, and Nobelium are always on, the Bee Pre, UA and Bass Dude get turned on and off, used one at a time. All of it goes into an Ampeg V4B. Totally over the top, but it sounds really good to me. As my best friend always said, "Too much is just enough".
I just wanted to give Nathan kudos for a pedal that has not gotten enough attention here. The Venus X is an amazing sounding pedal. It makes everything sound bigger and better, and the eq can take me into Noble territory, or it can get just plain mean, especially with the speaker sim. And that's all on the clean channel! Boost can get me into as much dirt as I could ever want. I'm not sure why there's no buzz around it, but there should be...
Just my best guess, but I suspect it's simply a matter of price and its' effect on market penetration. IMHO once a pedal gets over about 250-300 street price, the potential market shrinks dramatically/ exponentially. I consider myself financially fortunate, but for me to drop 5 Franklins on a pedal, it has to check all my boxes, make me feel sexy AND give me a massage. This is admittedly psychological. I (and others) freely spend way more than that on multiple pedals.....it's like someone who refuses to drop more than 800 bucks on any one bass......but has 12 basses. We are savage, territorial primates and are unfortunately (dare I say tragically) more emotional/instinctual than rational
