What's a good gateway preamp/di pedal from Sushi Box FX?
Welcome, this is a safe space :)

I'm pretty biased so I'm sure you'll hear other opinions, but Underground Accelerator is probably the most common "gateway" pedal, and Finally is the best option I have for D.I. right now (but that may change next week).

Interesting

This was the first that popped up

Are you looking for something with options for flexible shaping tone, or just getting some tube warmth into your chain? Finally DI and More will give you some good subtle tube saturation, while any of the preamps will give you more impact on your sound due to the onboard EQ.

From everything said I’d love the sound but it’s just more pedal than I need right now.
That's the main feedback I've heard on Venus X, and one of the main factors in wanting to make Venus Z. Personally Venus X was more pedal than I needed, but I have a Venus Z on my main bass board now.

Looking for flexible routing

Like a 1/4" through for a stage monitor

Subtle warmth wouldn't hurt

I think the Finally DI is the only pedal with an XLR and a 1/4 in out. Everything else just has a single 1/4 in output.

So with the Finally DI you can send a balanced XLR to FOH and use the 1/4 in out to monitor on stage.

There she is

Lots of people really love the Underground Accelerator, and I'm one of them. It's a great "always on" pedal for adding a bit of tube warmth. But I really love the Elementary and Detective, which are based on the HiWatt DR 103 preamp. They are just about the best tube light to medium OD pedals I've ever heard!

@Sushi Box FX how much longer will you have the Finally v2 With Bass In Mind special edition up on the site?
I haven't really decided. I don't want to have to deal with both editions of the Finally v2 at the same time, and the response to the With Bass In Mind edition has been very good, so I'm planning to keep it up for a little while. I ordered an initial batch of 25 enclosures and those units sold out in 4 days. I have another batch of 25 en route (set to arrive Tuesday) that will cover the current list of preorders and have a couple left over.

Orders have slowed but I still haven't had a day go by that I haven't sold at least one, so I'll probably place one more big order of With Bass In Mind enclosures, and unless there's another surge of orders I'll make that the last one then go back to the "stock" v2.

I'm loving the combination of the underground accelerator and finally, it's pretty much everything I want in terms of tube warmth, a bit of flexibility but still easy enough to dial in. I don't think there's a bad sound in there.
If you have a specific sound in mind then one of the other preamps might be the one to go for, but if you want something flexible and great sounding then UA all the way.

might be a good candidate for “limited time” specials like restaurants do. I can’t remember the specifics, but I do remember that’s a marketing thing that helps. Just an idea.
