The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Got my handwired Slampegg in the mail yesterday and used it on a gig last night. Have to say, it definitely sounds different but it's hard to quantify exactly. Definitely happy with it.

Also, I caved and ordered the limited edition Nobelium on sale in the pedals classifieds here... so much for self control :X

Interesting that you say that.

This afternoon I tried a Broughton BBA > Mother (Science Amp) > B7K > Finally (vs 1) > Cali76 (not the new version) > D-800+ and was sort of blown away with the various combo scenarios.

More testing at rehearsal next week, but it looks promising!

I've had a couple emails lately asking if I would consider doing another Nobelium run. It was a lot of work so I don't think I want to, but it gave me a hilarious idea. Prototype for this one should ship in the next few days, stay tuned for hilarious details.

Back in the old days when I was still on Facebook there was an FX forum I was in that was full of P&W guitar guys and there was some pedal they all coveted. I don't remember what it was, but the builder would randomly drop 5 pedals every 6 months or so and everyone would go crazy trying to get one. I wanna say it was some sort of Klon clone? I guess none of them had discovered the Tumnus yet.

Update...definitely shows some promise!

I'm using the Mother as 2-gain stages (2nd stage has more grind) that feeds into the DA Loop Blender.
BBA and CIOKS DC7 is underneath the board.

Ran out of space for my volume pedal, but if I like what I'm hearing at rehearsal, I can either just add a volume pedal on the floor or move to a bigger board (perhaps with an expression pedal as well).

So I had a spare 20 minutes and an nos RCA 12at7 valve to hand, and following Nathan's comments about it being a preferred choice to use I thought I'd give it a go.
All I can really say is it sounds great, I had an nos 12au7 in there, the at7 has a similar sound dialed up clean, but I think I prefer the 3/4 gain sound, it's kind of a bit fatter, kind of like the breakup sits within the sound a bit more rather than kind of "on top" for want of a better way to describe it that it had with the au7.

I was curious as everywhere I've looked the wisdom seems to be that 12at7s are only suitable for phase splitters and reverb drivers etc, but based on this (albeit limited) experience I might try it in a few other situations as it sounds great in the finally, and increases the output a reasonable amount.
