Nobelium has two outputs, a 1/4" and an XLR, that are fed off of separate points in the preamp. The XLR is fed from the output of the first tube, and the 1/4" comes from the output of the second. This means that if you're only using the XLR output of Nobelium, you're really only using one tube.

Neptunium is the exact same circuit as Nobelium but with the second tube removed, so it is just the part of the circuit related to the XLR output.

Solid question, Neptunium's 1/4" output comes from the output of the tube, so it's going to be a preamp-affected output, but it's going to have a little different character than the Nobelium's 1/4" output because it doesn't have the "white cathode follower" output stage that Nobelium uses for the 1/4" out.

It's basically a fancy tube buffer stage.

Got the first production-version unit put together this afternoon and snapped some pics of this handsome thing. I think this covers everything, let me know if there are other specs anyone wants to see.

That looks very tasty I've been wanting a tube preamp I've found one. Now fingers crossed on getting one.

The main things Furthermore will have in common is the Unagi E4305 transformer, independent XLR output level, and ground lift. At a preamp level it's vastly different though.

Pre-amp wise, what will it (Furthermore) be closest to in the current line-up?
Also, how close is the pre-amp in the Neptunium to the UA besides the obvious lack of a mid control?
I’m envisioning a Neptunium and a UA as a pedalboard version of my Bassman 100 with the pre-amps jumpered…with the added bonus of a HPF and a DI!

Somewhat I guess? The gainstages are similar, though UA uses a 12AX7 and Neptunium uses 12AU7.

It isn't a fixed frequency in a fixed amount, it's a standard fender tonestack which does not have set frequencies for the controls.

Correct. It comes from the preamp output with an output impedance of about 7k, compared to the Nobelium's output impedance of about 2k from the buffer.

It's okay, we all know you're not joking. Not really. Neptunium looks like pure gold, I can't wait to get my paws on it. Who could have thought there ever would be a Noble offspring in a smaller enclosure, easy to power, without the 9v nonsense, but still with a great DI for this price? This is Nathan's way to do a mic drop.
