If you're referring to the post over at PedalPCB, that was my suggestion. (My username is Lekky over there)
I tried building the circuit pretty much as shown, it works like a charm. The idea of using a MOSFET instead of the second tube is inspired by @Arkham Sound, as he changed the output buffer from 12AU7 cathode follower to MOSFET source follower in his preamps some years ago. Can't recall anyone complaining about preamps made after that change.

I just used and moved one of the new Oracles. That was a great sounding pre for sure. But for me it was the form factor and conveniences built into the Neptunium that made me sell it.

For someone rocking a full size pedalboard, with the right power supply, it's an awesome piece. And there are several awesome pieces out on the market. But for anyone worried at all about size or power consumption (I run a nano board with a Cioks Sol) the Finally and Neptunium just make SO MUCH SENSE

Yes I am and sorry I got your name wrong.

I guess he wanted to keep the amps all tubes, but then he needs a hotter signal since it’s sharing with instrument level. Sure enough there are now two volumes. I wonder if it’s hot enough to drive the XLR to line levels. I would like that but at $350 I cannot justify trying it out. I’m waiting for the Nobelium to come back in stock.

My signal chain was Shure glxd16 > Empress bass comp > hx stomp (no blocks/basically bypassed) > finally v2 > tech21 Q strip > xlr to house

Surely there is redundancy and gain staging to figure out amongst the pedals. I thought the strange alien gurgles noise might be the digital wireless system, but bypassing that didn’t change anything and turning off the pre section seemed to be the only fix. Haven’t been able to replicate this at home on my own power grid

Is this just what you can expect tubes to do, or maybe some non ideal power from the festival? Such an intriguing little pedal!

Well I was able to replicate the issue at home and it is my power supply. Just moving the cable around in the power supply causes the rate of the ticking sound to change or even go away if you hit the perfect angle in the port. Additionally, the DI output was pretty low to our X32 rack on the first gig I did, which is how I wound up using my Q strip at the end to boost my output level. I'm using a sweetfoot hx mini isolated power supply that is supposed to supply 9v at 500mA to three ports and 1.5A for the hx stomp. If I power the Finally v2 with a 9v 800mA adapter, it has a stronger di output and doesnt make weird ticking sounds. Here is a link to the power supply I've been using and having issues with:


I've also got a JJ 12AT7 and JJ 12AU7 on hand now to try in place of the 12AX7 that came with it. I popped the 12AU7 in first and it does exactly what I was looking for at around 1-2 oclock on the gain knob. Saturation and warmth and just a bit of extra gain on top of the berg super pre's tube emulation. I ran my berg super pre, shure wireless, and empress comp off the sweetfoot and the finally on its own power adapter and everything was dandy. Sounded awesome with no unwanted noise!

The last of the in-stock Neptuniums sold last night. I currently have backordering turned off for them as I don't have any more parts on hand, but I'll open it back up when I clear my to-do list a bit more and can get some more parts in.

Thank you all as always for your support. If nobody bought my pedals I would still build them because I enjoy it, but because people buy them I'm able to devote more resources to it and come up with cooler stuff. :bassist:

Also curious about this. I sold off my Noble after I was done tracing it since it's a hard piece of gear for a non-gigging bassist to justify keeping around.

I would ask you to consider added the Neptunium as a permanent fixture. I know you have said that it's only a limited run, but it seems to be a serious winner for several reasons. I think it would be a win-win for everyone.
