If the space heater was made before around October 2023, it may have been made before the polarity correction was standard, which can also be a cause of unwanted noise

I think that should be 2022, that's when the polarity fix became standard, but that's a good point. Space Heater was discontinued a while ago so there are probably more Space Heaters out there without the fix than with it.

@ContraToronto if you can post or PM me a picture of the circuit board I can tell you if it has the polarity issue that caused issues in some cases.

So I said I was in on the 12AU7 train for some time now, but plugging my MORE into my PF50T might be the best sound I've been able to get on a whim. If you happen to have these two, pair them up (and maybe throw a 12UA7 in V1 of the PF50T). You won't be disappointed. (Pic is my temporary practice rig while I'm in between places)

Doesn't not having the polarity fix only sometimes create a noise issue if you have TWO or more Sushi Box pedals in the chain; but not matter if there's only one?

It's most common when there are two Sushi Box pedals, but it seems to be anytime there's a Sushi Box pedal and another high-current pedal, like a another tube pedal, a modeler, etc.

Ahh... good to know! All of my Sushi Box pedals (except my handwired Finally) are pre-polarity-fix... I've been meaning to coordinate with you to find a good time to send 'em all in (and probably buy a More to join the others on their return trip home)

I was just chatting with the seller of what will be my second sushi box pedal and I was wondering about the power needs of the single tube pedals (I have a UA and talking about the Lab Rat). Seller mentioned that 9v 500mah is enough for the single tube pedals and I was looking for some clarity! I'm new to this tube stuff. Thanks y'all!

He is correct. I typically say 400mA is the bare minimum for a single tube pedal, 500mA should be fine.

Great clips. I used mine on my board for rehearsal via XLR out last night and it sounded so good. I messed around with HPF both on and off and both also sounded great. Was just a matter of what I wanted for each song really.

I think I saw someone else mention this too, but I can definitely run my drive pedals harder before they impart the same amount of distortion prior to the Neptunium being in the board. This was with a fairly hot signal from an 18V Stingray too. Zero complaints just had to bump them up a touch.

A QUESTION FOR VENUS Z USERS: Can it or can it not overdrive? There are conflicting posts in this regard. I realize it's intended as a clean pre in the GK vein, but would like to know if a hot input signal can get grit out of it. Thanks.

I'll phrase it this way ... I have yet to find a SB pedal I can't overdrive with a hot enough signal hitting it. With that said, the results aren't always pleasant.

My experience is that it does not overdrive by itself, but with a boosted signal in front (i.e. very hot pickups or a boost/overdrive) it is certainly theoretically capable of it.

Guess I need to do some playing around with it this evening and try some stuff out.

Maybe get yourself an Ohnoho “Blowing Up”, up to 80db of boost.

I'd like to know whether the amount of boost on tap from, for example, the Empress bass comp be enough to goose the VZ into some obvious enhanced harmonics/overtones.
