I bought new tubes for my glass butterfly and when I opened it up I found the problem, the previous owner put 12ax7 in the 12at7 slot and it changed everything about the pedal.
I bought 12at7 tube to try in my Finally v2 as well, and it was glorious. My new favorite. Since I had the extra 12au7 I tried that as well and that one now lives in my UA that use eq off.
I'll leave my hand wired Dr Watson as is because that pedal is perfect. Wish I used it more. It's funny the pedal that got me into sushi box was finding a sunnday drive on reverb. It's the one I play the least tho these days. Strange.
Try different tubes, glad I did.

Can you let us know how it sounds with the au7 Gr7g5ter?? I have Space heater and thinking of doing the same.

Well I Finally. got round to rolling in an AU7 and the pedals sounds amazing, I'd say it becomes a lot more usable as the out put with AX is so high (cranked it will kill off the local wild life!) but to be fair I've never adjusted the internal trim pot which would tame the beast. I actually realised that I've never opened this pedal up before. Very neat and tidy (as we would expect from Nathan) check out the guts shot.

It does what I need it to do without breaking up which has really help fine tune my tone in the hour or so I've been playing with it. It's first in my chain alongside More and HX Stomp. THE SH and More together is sublime, in bring the B15 pre and LA2A compressor on the stomp and it's the best I've sounded. why didn't i do this years ago!!

This pedal pedal is so good now it's a wonder @Sushi Box FX hasn't thought of adding a DI and HPF

Since I've bought the stomp and been using this set up my PF50 hasn't even been turned on (and now it's missing a tube!) I'm seriously thinking of selling the peg now (it'll help raise funds for the GS when it's released.

Yes, both Grand Slampegg and SBVT II have an input impedance of 5.6MΩ.

Any reason not to use one these? Specs seem right from (very limited) knowledge Seeing as I need to buy a new tube might as well go for NOS and see how that turns out. the 13D5 seems to get a lot of love. Not much more than getting a "tested" JJ 12AU7

NOS Mullards really get good feedback but they well over £100, seen a matched pair for £950

Brimar has a good reputation among European tubes, I know Effectrode likes them. Looks like it should be a solid drop-in for a 12AU7.

Yeah I found some new Briimars online but when I read "Each tube is scrupulously tested and only the best get badged with the Brimar thermionics logo" I guessed that they are probably re-badged JJs or similar.

Just pulled the plug on the 13D5, when that arrives the PF50T is going on the market.

I'm planning to drop Grand Slampegg tonight. I have 10 units boxed and ready to go with another 10 in progress, hopefully to be completed sometime this weekend. I still need to get the page on the website finished up, and I would like at the very least to get a quick looper+knob twisting demo done, I should be able to get that after work today.

While I'm working, here's a quick overview of the specs:

• clean preamp based on vintage Ampeg B-15N (not an exact copy)
• 1x 6SL7 tube
• 2-band (bass/treble) "baxandall/james" tonestack; both controls are boost/cut
• switchable HPF (90Hz @ 6db/oct)
• balanced XLR output with Unagi Magnetics transformer
• independent volume controls for XLR and 1/4" output
• 1/4" output is buffered so the XLR output doesn't affect the 1/4" and vice versa
• XLR and 1/4" output both have "source select" switches so either can be bypassed
• enclosure dimensions: 4.7" x 3.7" x 1.5" (120mm x 94mm x 38mm)

I'll have to double check the current draw, I want to say it's around 500mA. I know it's more than a typical single-tube pedal, but I'll verify how much more.

I typically use JJ tubes for everything, but in testing prototypes I found I preferred the sound of the Sovtek 6SL7 in this circuit, so that's what I've decided to use in these.

I will also be trying out something new, and Grand Slampegg will be the first pedal I offer with an option to include a power supply. This will be a 9V 1000mA "wall-wart" style supply with the Sushi Box logo slapped on it. I did not design it or build it, but I tested a good handful and chose this one for stability, noise, and size.

The cost of Grand Slampegg will be $400, and the power supply will be an additional $13.

I don’t miss my Pf50t one bit.

I do miss having a valve power section, but not enough to build a rig around it, it's just so damn awkward, if it had an effects loop I might have persevered but I'm very happy I've gone the digital wrapped in tubes route.

Hopefully with the GS released the Firebox may get a little high up the list.

I'm GASing big time for this. It could well be perfect in all situations where i don't need the SushiStompBoard, which is most of the time.

Stick in front of sumo at home for practice, DI to my interface for silent practice, recording and jamming along to online stuff, perfect DI box for open mikes and gigs, stick it in the loop of the Stomp to integrate it into my board.

I'm not doing a good job of talking myself out of this am I
